I am SO glad it's OVER

#1 Postby azsnowman » Mon Nov 06, 2006 7:17 pm

MAN...this has been a year hasn't it, the mid term election? I mean Geesh....ALL the mud slinging ads, the PILES of JUNK MAIL via the US Postal Service but the MOST annoying of ALL....the ENDLESS PHONE CALLS :grr:

Yes...I'm PROUD to be an American, I served my country and defended the freedoms we enjoy, especially the right to vote HOWEVER, these phone calls NEED to END!!

I can FINALLY sit down to dinner, enjoy my family without having to jump up OVER 10 times a NIGHT to look at the caller ID to see who's calling.

Shouldn't the canidates be forced to adhere to the "Do not call list" that ALL of the other telemarketers do?

I can't wait until 2008....if it's this bad THIS year, imagine what 2008 is gonna be LIKE?

Wow,

I think I only got like 1 phone call. You are a police officer though correct?

They might have you name on a list just because of that maybe?

Oh yeah... no incumbent either.

:slime:

I loved 2004 but this year I haven't so much, although I am pretty excited about tomorrow, even if it's going to be a bad night.

I am beyond sick of the campaign ads. It's impossible to watch any TV for 5 minutes without seeing a million of them.

I know what you mean. They should outlaw the mud slinging campaigning. It is getting more and more out ofcontrol. There is already a lawsuit filed over one in Alabama. When the mud slinging gets personal, it is time to do away with it.

Never thought of the fact that I was being called even though we are on the no call list. I think they should be forced to adhere to it. It has gotten nasty here too. Too bad they can't find real facts to stick to and real plans to "fix" things!! I really find most of it rather disgusting!! Really glad it is over!!

For 2008, I plan to have my landline disconnected and use my cell phones only. The worst thing about the political calls is that you can't snap back at them in a rude and insulting manner like I used to do to the telemarketers before I got on the no call list. I think the Congressjerks exempted the political campaigns from the no call list.

Our phone number is unlisted because of my position with the PD, I couldn't figure out HOW they got my phone number, then last night on the news, this VERY subject was a segment on the 6:00 news.

The news anchor suggested that you "re-register" for the 2008 election but leave your phone number off the registration form. They interviewed the head of the Democratic party during this segment, he said that you "could not leave it off"....the reporter said "Yes you can, it does not make the registration invalid"....bottom line, the democratic leader just wants your phone number!!!!!

Greeng13, yes, I'm in law enforcement....the department does everything within it's power to keep our phone numbers, physical address', mailing address' out of the public domain.

Unfortunately, there's this thing called the First Amendment to the US Constitution which would prevent such a ban.

Just think of the good all those millions and billions of dollars in TV ads could have done for some of the old, disabled or victims of diseasters. hmmmmm What's wrong with this picture.

I hate it myself. Every other commercial - it's disgusting. I don't want to vote for any of them. I just want to know where they stand and yeah, go ahead and make a comparison to the other candidate. However, when they start to get personal and start calling each other names, etc. it makes them look like school kids.

I think that would be a good idea as well. I think that it's easy for them to "lose touch" with the average people that they are supposed to represent after a while.
