Another indirect casualty from Katrina.

#1 Postby LaPlaceFF » Mon Nov 06, 2006 10:58 am

I haven't been posting here much lately because something has happened here. I will try to explain here what has happened.

As most people know 2 days after Katrina passed here, my dad passed away. He had been sick for such time. I spent the next week staying at my mom's house helping with the funeral arrangements. I would like to say that during that difficult time, we had support from the great community of Gramercy, LA. The church, the fire department (the male part of our family and my dad are vol. firefighters) and everyone were great and they have my eternal gratitude.

I returned back to work at Wal-Mart and worked long shifts and overtime cause everyone didn't come back home yet. Many associates did not return. We received many trucks, some that were meant for damaged stores from Katrina and later Rita. The stress and the long hours were so much that I ended up in the hospital and was out of work for 2 weeks.

Then one day I found out that I was passed up for a promotion. Our management team, in their finite wisdom, picked someone who was fired and rehired FOUR TIMES as a support manager. I was angry, I mean, I worked so hard for these people, so hard that I put myself in the hospital for them and this is how they thank me. I could tell you some of the things this guy did, but this is a family website. Trust me that "open door policy" does not work.

Days passed by and working with this guy became hell. Me and him many times got into shouting matches. I requested and got moved to Tire Lube Express as a Service Technician where I am at today.

But something was slowly dying the months after Katrina. It was my marriage. As I am typing this, she has been gone two months. I am expecting it to be final in February. I have been on a emotional roller-coaster. My fellow associates in the TLE department have been great in giving me support.

I hope this explains what has been happening. Thanks for your understanding and support.

Oh LaPlace! You are in my prayers. I can't begin to put myself in your shoes. Put your faith in God and with the magic of time, things WILL get better. Perhaps now is a good time to look for a different job, or maybe some schooling for something different? Sounds like you're at a crossroads in your life, and it's up to you what you make of it. You have my best wishes for a wonderful life. :D

Any of these incidents alone is bad enough, let alone a streak such as this.
My heart goes out to you. :( Prayers, too.

Oh my gosh, you've been through so very much LaPlace. My heart is breaking for you tonight. I didn't realize all you've come through since Katrina. Please know you are not alone and the fact that you feel very comfortable sharing your story to us here at S2K, speaks volumes for what we're all about here. Not just wx, but family. When one of us is hurting, we all hurt. I'm definitely sending you prayers and sincere wishes for better days ahead. I will mention that a divorce is like a death. The stages you go through with a divorce are very similar - shock, denial, sadness, grief, anger, denial, shock again, etc. The final stage was me was acceptance. I accepted it was time to move on and straighten out my life (I put up with a lot from my first husband). But it took me 7 long and painful months to see that! Hang in there and vent aways with us, anytime.

Hugs.

Mary

LaPlace, God knows what you have done and been through. Keep your chin up,
and, keep on "keepin' on". Walmart is going to have to deal with "Mr. Fired and
Rehired" when he quits, again - let them suffer. You have to do what you need to
do. I've been married and divorced twice - it's just like Miss Mary says - you have
to accept it and move on with your life. If it's not going to work, then, you've got
to move on with your future - don't dote on the past. God Bless 'ya, buddy.
You got my prayers!

Well, here is an update. She filed the papers this month. I am waiting for them. It's a long and drawn out process since she is going thru something called legal aid. Some people are shocked when I tell them that I am getting a divorce.

All I do is stay home all the time. It's hard to go out now. I am not seeing anyone, dating is the furthest from my mind now.
I'll be okay. I must.

Thank you and God bless everone for their kind words of support.

LaPlaceFF I'm very sorry to hear about your recent problems, and I wish you all the best in the future. No doubt my words are inadequate and my condolences seem meaningless at a time like this, but you have them for what they are worth. I only wish I could do something more substantial.
