Dems have to get all three of the outstanding races now.

I think they'll get two of the three...

That's what I'm thinking.

Latest on the way it looks now:

Sources within the Democratic Party say that the Dems expect to take Missouri and Montana, which would give them 50 seats. Republican sources also seem less than optimistic about their chances there.

In Virginia, some sources say that Webb leads by 2,600, other sources say that Allen leads by 2,600.

So if the assumptions are correct in MT and MO, it may all come down to Virginia.

Well judging by what is in the news currently and how things are going in Virginia I have to say it looks like it's better to be a Democrat than a Republican.

They have the advantage in taking all 3 seats and the Senate.

Fox News called this about 2-3 hours ago - that it would all come down to a Virginia recount. They joked that hopefully it'd only take 36 days to resolve things this time.

Well most on TV are speculating that because of all the heat Bush has taken over Florida in 2000, whoever trails after one recount will probably concede.

FINAL numbers for the House

236-199. 34 seat pickup for the Democrats! That is incredible. This was a tsunami election. They have huge political capital here.

Just to update everyone on the "calls" that several here were worried about.

The AP has called about 450 races tonight. Every single call has been correct.

Yep... I expect MT to get called before morning as well. So that leaves VA, where Webb is ahead, but by a very small margin.

This is not official, BUT...

Democrats are now claiming that they have taken the Senate.

Apparently, only liberal areas are to report in Virginia and Tester is tracking well in Yellowstone County. So well that they think Burns can't come back.

So internally, the Dems are quietly celebrating.
