If You could be Supreme Potentate for the Day...

#1 Postby JenBayles » Wed Nov 08, 2006 9:50 am

It amuses me to see just how much one group of people wants to control something in other people's lives. How many times do we hear, "There ought to be a law!" So, if you could be Supreme Potentate for one day, and pass laws that will actually be enforced, what would you do? I'd like to outlaw slow drivers in the "fast" lane of the freeways.

My law would be two strikes and you get life and I mean life. If you use a weapon in the act of a felony automatic life.

If I was Supreme Potentate for a day, I would cut all social welfare programs, confiscate all the large corporate holdings and exile all the wealthy and influential who stood in my way. I would raise dramatically the pay for key people in the military. In short I would consolidate power immediately. My last declaration would be a situation of internal emergency and secure my potentateship for five years.

Think of how interesting things would be after that! =o

Simply put into place a law that states that all be treated fairly and with respect no matter who, no matter where. You said supreme potentate, which to me means I can make all of it happen no matter what.

I would have an automatic death penalty for drug kingpins and those who kill in the commission of another felony such as rape, robbery..etc. Ditto for child molesters. To hell with treating them :grr: Give em one appeal the day after the verdict then hang em high.

If you kill someone while driving drunk, automatic life in prison. If you kill someone and its not in self defense, death within 1 year.

I'd ban cheap perfumes. After sitting next to this woman with terribly cheap perfume in the train to my work this morning, I'm convinced that a civilized Western country needs a ban on these kind of perfumes ;)

Ow, and I'd also ban the death penalty...

Ohh man where do I start.

I would start by also making it a law against being able to drive slow in the fast lane.

I would abolish the Federal Reserve and call all monies owed, paid in full. I would educate the people on the fact that the reserve is just a system of Banks! So a system of banks print our money (paper) and make us pay it back at a set interest rate.

The US government can print it's own money for free and repay it at no interest.

Ultimately this will allow for a redistribution of wealth throughout the country and to all the people rather than just the "rich". The fact that we no longer have this debt from something we have the right to print for free... this will allow us to then cut taxes as we don't owe money... "Interest" to the federal reserve.

If you don't believe me...

EDIT: Changed from allow slow people to not allow slow people in the fast lane.

Free Health Insurance!

Seriously, I don't know where to start. Law wise - you could go in many directions. Family speaking - I'd be sorely tempted to declare a national family day - no after school clubs/meetings/games, no parent/teacher meetings, no work related meetings, all parents would have the evening free to spend time with their kids. We could call it - Toss the Calendar Day! And oh yeah, no homework. Teachers would not be permitted to assign homework that night.

Good question, but I have no idea where to start.

I agree strongly. When I am Supreme Leader, you can be in charge of the execution of these two decrees. Hush puppies are the worst invention, ever.

No, those chickens go free in the great chicken jubilee! I decree it a holiday.

Winners: Every 10th chicken
Losers: Vegetarians

Which will increase our wild chicken reserves! Brilliant. :D If I become Supreme Potentate, Coriolis is my Minister of Agriculture.
