What were you doing in the 80s ?

#1 Postby Meso » Mon Nov 13, 2006 5:26 pm

Well,I personally was just born, which is sad... But I still mainly listen to 80s music,The dark side of 80s music.Deathrock/goth/post-punk... But it was a stage where music was at a peak, and everything has started going down from there, apart from some of the hairstyles  So I was wondering, what styles of music did you listen to back then? =) God bless the 80s ^_^

The 80's were my generation. Even though I grew up in the 70's, who would admit to it? I graduated from college in '81 and I spent 9 glorious years being single and making good money. I had a kicking stereo and listened to all the latest on college radio stations. I came and went as I pleased, and was free to do all the stupid stuff that I wanted. I,I,I,I,I,I,I

Hah.. I still dress kind of 80s,to an extent... Not the dodgy kind of 80s look though :p But the hair and jeans and stuff.. Hah.. I get quite a few weird looks... And I had someone come up to me in a store the other day and ask me "What is that hair called...; What do you believe in;Can I be your friend?" I kind of just had to laugh and step slowly back.. and by step slowly back.. I mean RUN!

You forgot hanging out with me. :cheesy: I remeber perming your hair in the late 80's.

I had my guess jeans, aqua net, and heavy black eyeliner. Also riding to school on a beach cruiser, those bikes were 'in'. I remeber my brother begging for a pair of parachute pants, and finally got them for Christmas. God those were ugly pants. :P The music of the 80's rocked. I still have the top 100 songs from 1985 I think it was, done by Casey Kasem on New Years day 1986, they used to recap the previous years top 100 songs. I recorded it on my cassette player/stero I had. It also had a slot for 8 tracks. Ahhhhh those were the days.

I`d give anything to be in london in the early 80s,just as the post-punk/goth movement was at peak (What do I mean peak,it only lasted like 6 years) Batcave and stuff... Bands like Bauhaus,Specimen,Sex Gang Children,Virgin Prunes, joy division and Siouxsie and the Banshees...Ahhh good music, good movements :)

I was in the service during most of the 80's, so I didn't have any hair or cool clothes.

The highlight of the 1980's for me was near the end of the decade. September 9, 1989. My wedding day. :D 9/9/89, hard to forget my anniversary.

I was born in 1981. It is funny how things just pop back up. This all-80s stations. Sometimes they will play a song that is obscure, and it is like "ah, I remember that!"

In the 1980s I was being raised by my parents and saw two siblings' births! :)

Let's see. I graduated from high school in 1980 and went to college. Graduated from there in the Fall of 1984 and got married in March 1985. I began my career in accounting after that. My parents split up in 1989 and I separated from my husband in 1990.

The 1970's were more my decade! I couldn't get into punk rock what so ever. It was classic rock and roll and also dancing to disco.

Oh, my goodness -- I'm (not quite completely) surrounded by people younger than my son. :P
What was I doing in the 80's? Getting married, divorced, and married again -- 8/8/83 -- gonna keep this one. Between '83 and early '90 we moved from Florida to New York to Connecticut to Maine to North Carolina. I'm glad he's not in the military anymore. :D
