Board issues

#1 Postby Brent » Fri Nov 17, 2006 2:48 am

Is anyone else having problems loading the site? A couple of people in chat can't get in at all. It works fine for others(including me) though.

Thanks Brent for posting this. I can get on, I just have to use the IP address, and it runs really slow. I am going to call my provider today and see what they have to say about it. If it were any other site I may not care, but this is the only one I can not access. I am seriously having withdraws.......lol.

This sounds like a DNS issue.. Try turning off your modems, routers and PCs along with clearing cache and temp files. Sometimes ISP change DNS server settings and resetting might help it but ultimately it's either your ISP or S2K's.. All you can do is reset your side especially if you have static settings and if S2K is having an issue be assured the ISP knows.. Sometimes it can be an ISP issue for a couple days until the new DNS propgates throughout the web..

Yea I just got off the phone with my provider and I swar those people. Errr. It took her half hour to figure out what I already knew and steps I have already been through. :x Then puts me on hold and gets back on the phone and says its a server issue, a server used to access s2k and probably a few other sites is down. She said it just came through that when I called they hadn't had anymore complaints than mine. I am like its been 3 days. Anyways I finally know what it is!!!!! Yay!!!!! And they BETTER have it fixed by days end. Because loggin in this way is for the birds..........Thanks for the input Aquawind.

I've been having some occasional problems of the site loading up as well. I had the problem yesterday for roughly an hour, and the board graphics, format, and topics were quite slow to load (and I'm on Adelphia high-speed connections via cable). After shutting down my PC and restarting an hour later, however, things worked fine, but then the problem returned half an hour later. Some other sites have had the same problems when trying to enter them on my PC, too (such as the National Weather Service sites, though not all).

So far, everything works fine today, however. Any possibilities of this being a virus? I have good protection on my PC (via Ad-Adware, Norton, and the like), and they couldn't detect any viruses when I had the issue yesterday. Any hints that this could be an internal program problem on one of my files? Also, has anyone else had this similar issue and problems recently?

That is a good possibility, and it could be the issue combined with other internal errors within my files and applications on my PC.

I am having a SERIOUS problem with access to Storm2K!!!

Please, I hope some of the gurus here can fix the problem, or provide a solution if it's on the member's end. I too am using the ISP address to get here (link below), but it is SLOW SLOW SLOW, and most of the time, when I try to login, the page simply times out and IE5 tells me the web page isn't available.

I'm on BrightHouse Networks (cable). I wonder if any other BrightHouse customers are having the same problem.

So far, it appears that S2K is the ONLY site that is acting this way. I can log onto or visit any other web address with no problem whatsoever.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

Yes I am with Bright House as well and have Road Runner service. I talked with Road Runner this morning and they are the ones that said the sever that is used to connect with this site is down. I too am only having issues with S2K, but she said there are other sites that server uses as well, but luckly I don't visit any of them. I asked her when it will be fixed and she didn't know  :x . If it is not fixed by this evening I will call them back and talk to someone else. JOY!

Yeah Ixolib it acts all kinds of funny logging in through that IP address. Quit aggrovating, not to mention s-l-o-w. I am just happy to know it is not my computer, I was doing all sorts of things trying to fix it yesterday, and it is obviously a IP issue.

That explains my issue as well, both with Storm2K and other sites. I had a suspicion as well that it wasn't an issue with my PC programs internally or a virus issue, but rather an issue with the IP type and server of those sites I visit, including Storm2K. The other sites I visit that I have experienced the same problem includes the NOAA GOES satellite imagery pages (both Atlantic and Pacific), Photobucket, and other sites that use IP and certain issues with internal applications.

Fortunately, I'm having no problems currently, but Adelphia didn't have any answers last time I asked for potential fixing of the line (which I thought was partially responsible for the problems at the time), and I got the "no clue" response. Typical.

Of course, all of us "Brighthouse/Roadrunner" customers can expect a hefty refund for the downtime, right!!

Hey O Town, I too was doing all kinds of things to my PC to try and fix the problem. Thought I was going crazy..... This is the first time I've ever experienced a "partial" internet outage. Usually when there's a problem with the ISP, it's the whole shabang!!
