Just in case you missed it ... Accumulating snows SC/GA

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Wed Nov 22, 2006 2:02 am

Between about 4:30 pm until about 8:30 tonight ... A CSI band (Deformation band) of heavier snow and sleet accumulated to the tune of 1 to 2 inches across portions of Southeast GA and Southern SC ....

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON SC
756 PM EST TUE NOV 21 2006

.UPDATE 3...KCLX REFLECTIVITIES ARE SLOWLY DIMINISHING ACROSS FAR
INTERIOR SOUTHEAST SOUTH CAROLINA AND SOUTHEAST GEORGIA. A FEW
REPORTS OF LIGHT SNOW ARE STILL COMING IN BUT THE BULK OF THE
HEAVIEST SNOW HAS ENDED. SPOTTER...MEDIA AND COUNTY WARNING POINT
REPORTS INDICATE 1-2 INCHES FELL ACROSS AREAS FROM JENKINS COUNTY TO
NW COLLETON COUNTY OVER A ROUGHLY 3 HOUR PERIOD. WE WOULD NOT BE
SURPRISED TO SEE AN ISOLD 3 INCH AMOUNT SOMEWHERE IN THIS AREA...
ESPECIALLY IN ALLENDALE OR NORTHERN SCREVEN COUNTIES. WL UPDATE THE
PRODUCTS AND GRIDS SHORTLY TO EXPIRE THE SNOW ADVISORY AND REMOVE
MENTION OF MEASURABLE SNOWFALL...AT LEAST FOR NOW.

glad you guys got to see some snow down there.Wish it could have been more for you guys.Up here in Eastern NC never saw any frozen precip but the winds are howling with official gusts to 50 but i live in a big open field thats several hundred acres and the wind sure seems worse than that here but i know its from the open fields......

How much did you guys end up with down there in the low country of GA/SC?

The Lowcountry itself received only trace to dusting amounts during the event... the good period of snow fell between 7 am and 9 am, with occasional sleet mixed in (or sleet altogether) during heavier precipitation falls all the way up until about 1:30 pm...

Wow. I remember back in the 80's we had snow on Wilmington Island GA. First time I ever saw snow.

I also remember the day Savannah hit 3F. That was crazy....
