Because people are always looking for something to moan about.. It's natural accept it,There is a difference between natural nudity and sexual nudity.

Is there a %cover-up while breastfeeding rule? I wouldn't want one of those itchy dirty airline blankets over my baby. Why are mothers supposed to be so "careful" when feeding their baby as to not offend you? Does a baby feeding in a natural way really bother you that much or have you never seen a boob before? I've yet to understand the problem here.

Wait just a minute...what are you saying?? Boobs are just for the babies???...dang it!!

Discretion!! That's the key word here - and the answer, yes I have been witness to some very unsightly breast feedings.

You're right, but unfortunately some would disagree with you. That's the basis of their whole argument.

While women shouldn't just go around with their breasts hanging out everywhere in public, it's not going to kill someone, adult or (GASP!) child, to accidentally catch a glimpse of a breast.

If you feel you're going to be damaged from that, you have major issues and need to have them worked out.

I don't think those of us who disagree have "major issues" but there's a time and a place for everything. And I'm quite offended that you are saying i have "major issues". Like i've said before, i don't mind it just do it discreetly and have respect for the people around you.

Next you'll see nothing wrong in changing diapers in public eh?

You said, "I don't mind someone breastfeeding around me but don't do it in such a way to draw attention to yourself."

Where exactly do we disagree? I'm confused.

Well, do you practice discretion when you eat? I mean, you should cover your face and food while you're at the restaurant, right? Maybe you should cover your entire head with a blanket so we don't have to see you eat? Is that discretion?

I still don't see it. How does indiscreet breastfeeding harm anyone? Why should the breastfeeding mother on a cramped airplane worry about making the task more difficult by being discreet?

Well the discreet aspect is more for societal acceptance than anything.

More people discreetly breastfeeding leads to acceptance of that. Then people become less discreet over time and eventually open breastfeeding is acceptable everywhere.

As for what it harms, it harms absolutely nothing. But since it's taboo now, you have to ease society in to it.

Oh boy, you obviously didn't understand the pun intended by my post. Breastfeeding is how the baby is feeding, and everyone wants it covered up. So I think that those people should cover themselves up while feeding and see how they like it.

I couldn't agree more with all the comments you have made in this thread. I wish more thought the way you do. As a mother who breastfeed all 3 of her kids, 2 being a set of twins, I always felt like I had to go hide somewhere, and it is way more difficult trying to throw a blanket on top of you try to keep it from falling off and getting a baby to latch on. Now imagine twins....2 babies crying to eat at the same time. Almost impossible to do in public, needless to say we didn't go out very much with the twins were still nursing.

The whole problem in this sex-crazed society is that breasts are considered to be erotic and restricted. Witness the Janet Jackson/superbowl fiasco. You can't expect the public to suddenly change gears mentally and accept the nature thing without being squeamish.

I've seen some people who SHOULD have a blanket over their head when eating.

My wife is breastfeeding our 3 month old, and she feels nervous about breastfeeding in public because she's afraid of the reaction. That makes me mad. :grrr:

I'm a 61 year old mother and grandmother. I've breast fed and watched as my daughters breast fed my grandchildren in public. Being discreet when you breast feed is NOT difficult.

OTown, God bless you breast feeding with twins!!!
