Hosting TG for 23 and having a house guest for 5 days wore me out a little more than I expected. I've been enjoying a lull before starting the decorating blitz. I'll try to start it by Thursday! I have so much that I don't always put it all out. And 20 years ago I barely had anything (no tabletop decorations, roping for bannisters, candle arrangements, etc.). All we had then were lights and ornaments. Ah, the good ole days before I started adding this or that each year. Well, this or that got a little out of control. I have to be good this year and not buy anything decoration wise!

You sound like my sister. lol. Get with it Miss Mary! :D

I can't! I think I caught the flu now or something viral....he he I need time to get with it and we have another busy week upon us. I will get to it. I actually wanted to have it all done by Thanksgiving but I would have had 23 people saying how dare I mix Christmas with TG?!!!! So my house was all Fall-like, for them. And now I want the xmas stuff out. I only have about 20 boxes to unpack. It's a lot of work, that you can't do in 15 minutes (increments I have available). I need a whole day!

Kelly - your pics are wonderful!!!! Nice job!

We managed to get the outside lights done last Sunday. I need to run over and do my mom's house today before that big front rolls through. While 80 degrees isn't exactly "seasonal", I'd rather do the outside work while it's warm instead of freezing and fighting a 25 mph wind.

I did manage to go out and buy a new pre-lit tree this year, but it's still in the box. Mary - I'm like you. I have to do it a little at a time. :D

I do my house up fairly big every year. This year, if things go well (which they haven't so far), I'm going to shoot for 50,000 lights, all controlled by the computer, and at least somewhat synchronized to music. I use the same computer program as the man whose video made it all over the world last year around this time (we both purchased the program around the same time, and have used it for a couple of seasons now).

I was hoping to light up Thanksgiving night, but being that I just started decorating on Sunday, obviously I'm far behind and that didn't happen. I'm currently shooting for a lightup date of December 15.

And BUD, I'm right down the road from you in Conway. I might have to zip up to see your lights sometime.

I didn't want to start a brand new thread so I borrowed this one. Since this is a xmas decorating related post.....

I finally, finally got the real xmas tree I've always wanted! A Fraser Fir. I am in shock. Each season it's a tradition that my husband takes our daughters out to pick just the right one. They usually choose Scotch Pine. Which is fine but I've been asking for a Fraser Fir for no less than 10 years now! This year they were sold again at our local Kroger store, for only $39.99. In the past when my family would look around prices ranged from $60, to $80 and up over a hundred. My husband would come home each time and grumble about the prices. Meanwhile, I'd mention these real fir trees up at Krogers....but they'd say it's not xmas w/o a pine tree......I get my way for most of the decorating so I usually let this one go. LOL Here's what one looks like:

They're the ones featured in all the decorating xmas related magazines I tend to purchase.

This year they went for it and it didn't break the bank!

Of course it's smaller than past trees but I love it.

Just wanted to share that!!!

I bought a 32inch table top tree. I thought it was enough since we have 3 cats.  Sounds like a pretty tree Mary.

That looks really nice.

I got a new fake tree that is 6 foot. I had a 4 foot on a table in my room(the one I posted a picture of in another thread), but the stand has been broke for a couple of Christmases now, and I got tired of dealing with it, so I went and bought another good. It looks really good. I'll try to get a picture of it soon.

We went out riding this evening looking at Christmas lights(I know, it's early, but it was my brother's 2nd birthday). Over in my grandparents neighborhood, and around a lake and down several streets they have an awesome display. They've had it every year for as long as I can remember. Sometime before Christmas I'm going to get some pictures or video of it. It is really nice. There's also a really elaborately decorated house just as your exiting the downtown area. They went all out for Halloween too.
