Tornadoes below freezing?
I just heard on The Weather Network this morning that there is tornado like damage just off the north shoreline of Lake Erie in Niagara County, Ontario. Nothing has been confirmed yet, and they didn't give any details, but I'm just wondering how that is possible in the cold. There was freezing rain warnings, high wind warnings and lakeshore flooding warnings at the time. Maybe an on-shore waterspout?

it really doesnt matter about the temps from what I know...as long as there is enough shear there and of course a thunderstorm (something with a strong enough up/down-draft...) or...could it of been a snow devil? (what I call them) a dust devil in the snow...I've seen weak ones, even ran into one (yep...it was hard to do, but fun ^^) so I would assume they could get almost as strong as their cousins if conditions were right?
