His mom didn't want to deal with him so she just had him thrown in jail.I can't believe some parents these days are so pitiful.Jail doesn't teach a kid any good,it just exposes him to a environment that a 12 year old should never have to experience.

Well said about the Dept. of Human Services. The ones they should go after, they turn a blind eye to. There is so many children suffering from poverty and most will not even have Christmas presents because of their parents being on drugs.![]()
Kids, they are JUST kids.
You think it's appropiate to arrest a child with ADD by using handcuffs?

I would not show leniency due to ADHD. That never was an issue in the past. That has only came up in recent years in the PC era. IMO, ADHD means not being spanked enough

He is lucky he didn't end up with a felony charge of breaking and entering along with his larceny charge.
Good for the mom and police to have his carcass arrested and teach him that there are consequences for one's actions

How many 12 year olds have you seen murder others in the past few years. Kids are not just kids anymore. Many of todays parents are either afraid to discipline their children because they may get child protective services called on them or they just want to be their childs best friends instead of true parents. I think this is why we see so many screwed up and out of control kids these days. The mother obviously could not control her child, she had tried to help him but nothing worked so she did what she thought she had to do. I appluad her and the police.

As many others should be.
While ADHD is overdiagnosed, it is NOT caused by parenting. In fact, the only 2 kids I know personally who have ADHD are spanked for every wrong move they make. ADHD is caused when parts of the brain that regulate behavior, such as the frontal lobe, do not do their jobs quite right.
However, I think the comment was just another attempt to bring up the spanking debate.
