So typical for South Florida; no rain for weeks and then 5 or more inches in a day (or in this case a few hours).

Over six inches of rainfall has been reported at PBI now. I've received nearly an inch at my location thus far in eastern Boca Raton. With good moisture feed at the middle levels, the locally heavy widespread rainfall across southern and southeast Florida may likely continue for more hours later ahead into the late afternoon hours. This is evidenced clearly on the latest Miami NWS radar loop.

Note the impressive rainfall rates over northeast Broward County as well as portions of eastern Palm Beach County! Fort Lauderdale really got hammered about half an hour ago with that heavy cluster moving just east of due north through northeast Broward and southeast Palm Beach counties.

this could be a big time flood event if that forecasted low doesn't move thru til tomorrow and we keep getting this training of storms over the eastern half of broward and palm beach

i know they were calling for 2-3 inches in the "lake okechobee area", but not this much. Even after this area of rain moves out we will still have the low to deal with as it crosses the state dumping a another inch or 2, WPB and Ft Laud could end up seeing 10+ inches out of this

Lots of rain here in North Palm Bch County too. This may beat Hurricane Irene of 1999. She brought about 10.5 inches of rain to Palm Beach Cty. There were lots of flooding problems from that, so we'll have to see how much trouble this flooding brings us. Amazing that we still have a low pressure to deal with too.
