Not quite the snowfall event forecasted BUT I did receive 3"+ and the snow advisory was updated to last until 1800 hrs. tonight unlike the original was forecast to exprire at 1200 hrs.

It is getting dark again, winds pickin up and a few light snow showers are starting AND....there's yet ANOTHER system forecast for Friday into Saturday.... :ggreen: So...this means one day of clear weather and BAM....again :ggreen:

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION

FXUS65 KFGZ 191639 AFDFGZ AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FLAGSTAFF AZ 940 AM MST TUE DEC 19 2006 .SYNOPSIS...A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL CONTINUE TO AFFECT NORTHERN ARIZONA TODAY...WITH RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS MOST OF THE AREA. THE HEAVIEST SNOW IS EXPECTED OVER THE EASTERN ARIZONA MOUNTAINS. THE STORM SYSTEM WILL SLOWLY MOVE EAST OF THE STATE WEDNESDAY WITH RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS TAPERING OFF FROM WEST TO EAST. THE NEXT STORM SYSTEM IS EXPECTED ON FRIDAY...BRINGING COOLER TEMPERATURES AND A CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS. &&

.DISCUSSION...A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM REMAINS OVER AZ THIS MORNING...WITH SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS...BUT MAINLY LIGHT SNOW SHOWERS CONTINUING DUE TO THE INSTABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD POOL ALOFT. AS SNOW SHOWERS WILL BE CONVECTIVE IN NATURE...BRIEF HEAVY SNOW IS POSSIBLE...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER ACCUMULATIONS. THE BEST AREAS TODAY FOR MORE WIDESPREAD AND ACCUMULATING SNOW WILL BE NEAR THE UT BORDER WHERE A FRONTOGENETICAL WRAP-AROUND REGION IS EVIDENT...AND OVER THE WHITE AND CHUSKA MOUNTAINS WHERE A DEEPER MOISTURE FEED AND OROGRAPHICS WILL CONTINUE TO ALLOW FOR MORE SUBSTANTIAL SNOWFALL...UP TO A FEW ADDITIONAL INCHES.

A SNOW ADVISORY CONTINUES FOR MOST ZONES EAST OF FLAGSTAFF...AND WILL BE RE-EVALUATING FOR POSSIBLE UPDATES. THE LOW WILL MOVE VERY SLOWLY EASTWARD OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS...WITH SNOW SHOWERS TAPERING OFF FROM WEST TO EAST. SNOW SHOWERS MAY LINGER NEAR THE NM BORDER THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

A RIDGE OF HIGH PRESSURE WILL BRING AN END TO PRECIPITATION AND MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES FOR THURSDAY...BEFORE ANOTHER STORM SYSTEM AFFECTS THE AREA FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...BRINGING ANOTHER CHANCE OF RAIN AND SNOW SHOWERS.
