Christmas Bonus
Does your employer give one?
My one job mailed everyone Swiss Colony treats and the other job had a formal Christmas party, if you went you picked a box and people had gotten microwaves, TVS, cash. If you didn't go to the Christmas Party you got zilch, well I got zilch, lol, I don't do Christmas parties.
Tomorrow the one director is having a Pizza party for us in Medical records, she asked if I could come in earlier, told her that I'd try, but not promising anything.

Most places I worked had a corporate policy gift limit of $25, so we usually got some sort of gift certificate. Multiply that by a few thousand employees and it mounts up. Some had Christmas party drawings where I managed to get a very nice set of Baccarat crystal tumblers.
The last company I worked for had a very generous bonus system based on the company's performance and the individual employee's performance for that year. Generous though it was, many individuals trumpeted their bonus amounts to the skies and complained it was never enough. That always drove me nut - the bonus is a freakin' GIFT - not a component of annual compensation. You want to make more money? Work harder or change jobs.

Well, let's see, our last paycheck came in a different envelope. We were hoping for something extra. Enclosed was a green half sheet of paper, from our school district's superintendant. Wishing us all a wonderful holiday and thanking us for our hard work. I assume so anyway.....NO ONE READ IT!
We all wanted a bonus, even just $5 a person would have been nice.
All of those green thank you's went promptly in the garbage!
Yes a thank you is very nice but what I've noticed is large company holiday parties are a thing of the past. And I haven't heard from anyone lately who just received a cash bonus. No one.
Decades ago when I worked in a doctor's office we received two bonuses a year - xmas and vacation. And yes we did appeciate both - very much. Each was close to another extra paycheck, if I remember correctly.

Each officer, our Criminal Investigations Unit (me), dispatchers and full time civilian employees got a $650 gift card to Safeway this year from our city manager (they were stuffed in our paychecks TODAY!)
Guess they DO appreciate us after all....just don't ask some of the citizens what they think of us

WINE....UNHEALTHY???????In that case I'm DEAD
*CHEERS*
One glass per day is healthy. But they gave me 7 bottles and now it's really tempting to invite some friends an reduce the number of bottles in a small amount of time.
I just found out that at the bottom of the box is a €150 gift card which I can use to but electronics. I like this insurance company (didn't expect I would ever like one).

Our company Christmas party was today; I received enough chocolate to choke a moose.
There was a gift exchange and I came away with a nifty leather bag containing a large cocoa mug, cocoa mix, and 4 "spirits" miniatures. A shot of scotch in a mug of hot cocoa is delightful.
Oh, and $400 cash.

Man I miss shop-rite. Do you remember Two-Guys, it was a supermarket and clothing store and on the other side of the parking lot was a home improvement place.Stephanie wrote:A $50 gift card to a Shop Rite (supermarket), Boscov's or Macy's.

Well, I have to say, my husbands employer greatly appreciates the hard work and sacrifices they make through the year. He received his Christmas bonus last week. $2000 big ones! We received it the day before their annual Christmas party which was held at the Gold Strike Casino in Tunica, MS. Every year they have a party at the casino, dinner, drinks and dancing till 1:00 a.m, then we can sleep it off in our hotel rooms. The next morning we have a huge breakfast buffet. All of this is totally free. Within the next 6 weeks he will be receiving his profit sharing contribution. Last years contribution was $18,000. 2% of that contribution we receive in a check to spend as we please. So, if anyone is looking for a GREAT employer, no one beats Nucor Steel!!
