USAF Reserves

#1 Postby pojo » Thu Jun 19, 2003 1:11 am

I FINALLY, I mean FINALLY received the phone call that I have been patiently waiting for! :ggreen: :D My USAF Reserves recruiter called me Wednesday night (6/18) to tell me that my medical paperwork came back and all looked good! :D Thus means that I can enlist in the AF Reserves! :ggreen: I've been waiting since March 25th for the paperwork to go through! (physical on March 25th, then test in mid April and test in late May...believe its been a LONG wait!)

This was the slowdown.........Because I did not know what sort of an allergic reaction I had with sulfa, the docs made me take 2 asthma tests to prove that my lungs are quite healthy. I know that I get hives, but I didn't know the extent of the reaction...and because of that...I was booked for the asthma tests

Possible enlistment will come on Wednesday (6/25) or as a back-up on Thursday (6/26) :D

Possible date for boot camp departure is January 20, 2004.

I will find out more on Monday...and will fill you in on any further details.

Congrats Shannon... Remember no matter how much those TIs try to take you down you keep focused. Its all a MIND GAME and if you can stay focused in the MIDST of peeps yelling and screaming in your face then you will do fine...
I hated boot camp :( not for the hardness I HATED MY TI... Now I am a SSgt and they asked me to BE A TI :o I was like not only NO but HELL NO. LOL

Good luck and good choice!

Congrats Shannon! I agree with Dennis and Aaron, boot is all about staying focused. One big head game! They will try and get under your skin and make you react. When it gets tough just remember all your WxBuds here are with you in spirit! Piece of cake! :-)

It is a mind game....and all that is required is to stay FOCUSED. The Drills Sgts will chew you up and then spit you out, but either way, you still have to stay focused. If someone in your flight does something wrong...you learn from their mistakes to NEVER do that again. We start as individuals, but by the end of the day, we are a team...and work as a team.

Thanks for all the well wishes.

As of right now, I'm scheduled to be shipped out to boot camp on January 20, 2004.

I lived about two miles from a state prison in southeastern Massachusetts. It was a popular prison for New England, at least southern New England. It was were those that needed to have psychatric evaluation were taken.

A boot camp was built next to the complex that houses the criminals several years ago (years after the prison opened).

I heard in the last year or two that the prison was closing for good [after residents that lived close to the locations were asked to move out, their houses bulldozed because of enlarging the complex and for safety reasons].

The boot camp is remaining on the premises.
