hanging is going too easy on him.

Why give him the most humane form of execution? Hanging takes just a millisecond to carry out, unless its botched like at Nuremberg

I say publicly draw and quarter him

I say lock him up in a secret place.

A life-long sentence if seen as a terrible humiliaton in the eyes of muslims. For them it's worse then the death penalty, which would only make a martyr out of them.

Is it worth the money though to keep him alive? If we would go down that route... there are only 3 places in the world where I would keep him... three places that if used properly would strike fear in the hearts of those who seek to do those acts in the future (and we could extend this punishment to the insurgents as well)

As for the idea that a life sentence is more humiliating to a Muslim, can we really consider Saddam Hussein a Muslim. He never practiced, openly tolerated Christianity (in fact, Tariq Aziz, possible the second in command though I am not sure, was a Christian), and gave a Christmas address to the nation every year. While this does not suggest he was Christian, he sure was not an Islamic radical

Tariq Azis is a Christian. He was born Michael Yuhanna. Also, there is Georges Sada, who's an Assyrian.

Hopefully his execution will be carried out long before the 30 day deadline bringing some closure to the families of those he brutally slaughtered.

Even though he isn't a devout Muslim, he is still a sunnite and was often seen praying towards Mecca in a full headdress. The fact that he was fairly tolerant towards other religions was just because he thought that it would be the best for his country and it would strengthen his country further.

Anyway, his death might be seen as a small victory by some, but in the end, it won't matter at all, because the violence will probably just continue and might even get worse as the former Ba'athists will want revenge.

NBC: Saddam to be hanged by Sunday
Ex-dictator’s execution expected to be carried out by start of Eid holiday

BREAKING NEWS
NBC News and news services

Former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, sentenced to death for his role in 148 killings in 1982, will have his sentence carried out by Sunday, NBC News reported Thursday. According to a U.S. military officer who spoke on condition of anonymity, Saddam will be hanged before the start of the Eid religious holiday, which begins that Sunday.

Earlier Thursday, Saddam’s chief lawyer implored world leaders to prevent the United States from handing over the ousted leader to Iraqi authorities for execution, saying the former dictator should enjoy protection from his enemies as a "prisoner of war."

This breaking news story will be updated.
NBC News and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I wish they would televize it.... I would love to watch him hang just like the way he made the families of the people he hung.... I know it sounds gross, but..... I think I need to see it with my own eyes that he is gone.,..

There will be a video made, so I'm sure we'll get some pictures as proof(like we did with Zarqawi and his sons), and given the power of the internet, the video will probably wind up on it over time.

According to this story, the execution will be videotaped. The video will not be made public. But I'm betting within 48 hrs of his execution, copy of the tape is put on the 'net by someone.
