Was Santa good to you?
I'm enjoying my new laptop immensely! Not expecting anything else my family surprised me with one of those kitchenaid heavy duty mixers. I can't wait to try it out.

If you can't handle all the money Brent I would be glad to take some off of your hands.
Santa was wonderful to me as always. This year, however, I got to see just how special something very inexpensive can mean to someone. My sisters and I got together and bought my grandmother a heart necklace with our birthstones in it. This was not a cheap gift. On the way from picking it up, I was struck with how much she meant to me and I felt that it might be best summed up in a poem. This fall has been rough because my youngest sister moved away to live with her father.
While she loved the necklace, she told me with teary eyes that it meant more to her than any other Christmas gift she has ever received.
To Ninnie At Christmas, With Love
You were there for the first basketball game,
the first band concert,
and on graduation day.
Your love has blessed each one of us
much more than we can say.
Now as we are growing up
inevitably there is coming a day
when each one of us will move out
and go our separate ways.
We may live in the same house as you,
across town, or far apart.
But know no matter where we live,
we’ll always be in your heart.
This special gift comes from all three
A present made just for you
Because we wanted a special way to say
Ninnie, WE LOVE YOU!

We haven't opened our presents yet!
My daughter, son-in-law, and grand-dogger are on a road trip to IN, OH, and SC to visit his side of the family and should be back in FL on the 29th. So we're admiring all those lovely wrapped packages (including those from our out-of-state relatives) under the tree until this Saturday.

Garrett, that is the sweetest thing ever that you could have given your Ninnie. It is the little things that are so big and dear to their hearts. My daughter gave my Mom (her Granny) the same thing. She wrote her a poem and framed it. She had a pic of her and her Granny together and it was at the top of the poem. When my Mom opened it and read it, she started crying. Not a dry eye in the room. No gift big or small, expensive or inexpensive could touch that moment. It was great and the true meaning and spirit of Christmas.

Those that haven't had Christmas yet... don't feel bad... I'm in Mississippi and my family is in Wisconsin... because of my schooling, I haven't had a chance to go home...
There is a possibility that I will not be home for Christmas until late January. (that's if my Duty Officer approves the pass)... otherwise if that wasn't approved... the first time I would be home since Thanksgiving would be April or May (depending on when my flight school is completed).
Last year I was deployed in July and back home in January... I missed all the Fall Holidays, several Birthdays, the birth of my niece and my grandparents 50th.

The KitchenAid mixers are fantastic! I've had mine for about 12 years and my parents have had theirs since 1973. Both are still going strong, although you need to replace the brushes on the motor once in a rare while - how often depends on how heavily you use it but I've only had to do it once, my parents maybe 3 times.

If I may ask...where are you getting your songs? I got my wife a Phillips MP3 and she has exactly 0 songs on it so far.
I downloaded a lot of songs from my CDs, now I don't have to lug those around. I also downloaded a few songs from iTune. I have 115 songs on mine already.
