Much of North and South Carolina got over 1" of rain on Friday and Saturday. With the ground saturated and another round of heavy rain coming in on Christmas Day we could see some minor flooding problems. Much of us will get 1.35" - 2.75" from this next storm. Keep here for updates.

A flood watch is in effect for parts of NC Monday 6am-4pm, including Raleigh to Charlotte.

Well our total Friday through Tuesday was over 3". Many flood warnings on the rivers in Eastern NC. We can expect more rain on Saturday and Sunday. The amount is still uncertain but it should be less than the past storm. Keep updated on warnings at: http://carolinaforecast.com/severeweather.html

HIGH PRESSURE WILL RIDGE INTO THE REGION FROM THE NORTHEAST THROUGH SUNDAY...AS A TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE DEVELOPS OFF THE CAROLINA COAST. A COLD FRONT WILL CROSS THE REGION MONDAY NIGHT. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD FROM THE WEST TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...THEN CROSS THE CAROLINAS THURSDAY BEFORE MOVING OFFSHORE FRIDAY.

Rainfall totals will range from 0.25" - 0.75". This should not cause too many additional flooding concerns. Remember NC State Law requires you to turn on headlights while using wipers.

Well, this system will be more potent than expected. I expect alot of flooding problems especially for the mountains. Forecast rainfall: Raleigh, Asheboro and Fayetteville, NC Columbia, SC 0.50" - 1.25", Winston-Salem, NC 0.75" - 1.50", Hickory, Charlotte, Boone, NC 1.50" - 2.50", Asheville, NC, Greenville, Greenwood, SC 2" - 3.50".

Impressive rain totals in western NC. Winston-Salem, NC 3.84", Danville, VA 2.58",
Asheville, NC 1.73+", Charlotte, NC 0.60", Raleigh, NC 0.54". Some evacuations were needed in the Winston-Salem and Danville areas. Flooding will be a concern through the rest of the week.

Flooding has returned to the Carolina's. Water will take several days before it
begins to fall. With more rain in the forecast later this week we may see

I live just outside New Bern and got .69 inches today. That was on top of 1.5 inches on Christmas Day and 4.5 the Saturday before Christmas.

Yeah but it looks like there will be more Rain coming in over the next couple of day starting Thursday. The area of Low pressure that is setting over Extreme Western Texas and Southern New Mexico will pull moisture in form the Gulf of Mexico. It will move across Texas into Louisiana Wednsday into Wednesday Night and then will work it's way toward the Carolina's. Will have to wait and see how much Rain we get out of this system but it looks like there is another one following right on it's heels and should arrive some time Saturday Night or Sunday. But until then I guess we can injoy the temps getting into the 60*s and in some place's along the coast the 70*s. I guess we will just have to wait and see how this all plays out over the next couple of days.

The first system on Thursday and Friday will not bring much rain from the looks of things. Only 0.25" - 0.75" except higher amounts in t-storms. The second System on Sunday should be similar to the first only bringing 0.25" - 0.75".

Rainfall totals will range from 0.25" - 0.75" across most of the Carolina's today and tonight. But where storms move repeatedly across the same area rain totals could exceed 2" in a short period of time. There is slight risk of severe storms tonight mainly between 8pm - 3am. The main threat from these storms will be gusty winds in excess 60 mph. We can't rule out the possibility of hail up 1.25" in diameter and an isolated tornado. Also numerous cloud-to-ground lightning strikes will be common. With the ground still saturated and many creeks and streams running high, flash flooding may be a concern especially where storms continue across the same area. Sunday and Monday rainfall totals look to be higher than previously expected. Across the coastal plain 0.25" - 0.50", Central Carolina 0.75" - 1.25", Western Carolina 1.00" - 2.25". Western NC was hit hard last week any addional heavy rainfall will cause significant problems.
