It is the almost fanatical cheering, chanting, etc. I have seen this evening (and I am not singularly referring to this board... even in real life) that prompted this post. We, America, are different from the enemy because we hold higher standards, even in killing someone. We are the cut above... we HAVE TO BE... or else we are no different than the enemy we fight.

Yep. As the saying goes, take care in fighting monsters that you don't become one. Or, when one sups with the devil one needs a long spoon.

I don't think this is about celebrating the end of Hussein's tyranny. After all, his hopes of returning to power were dashed the moment he was captured by US soldiers. At that point in time, and being in US custody since that time, he had no chance whatsoever of regaining his former role as dictator. None. Zilch. Full stop. So, exactly what are you all celebrating here?

Blood.

Yes im happy hes dead. JUSTICE was served and his death will bring closure to the Iraqi people who were brutalized by this thug. What is making me VERRRY angry is seeing the media post pics of him captioned "Saddam Hussein 1937-2006." That is NOT appropriate for a mass murderer :grr:

What the hell are they doing eulogizing him???

Its standard practice to say the years in which people lived.

Yeah, I just saw it. It looks for real. Although you really don't see much after they pull the floor from under him. He's just lying there. Nothing really graphic, unless you can't stand seeing a live dead body.

What they ought to do is list all the names of his victims and mourn them. Shift the focus that direction. But that will never happen.

That is what many are upset about.. all of the other victims that didn't get their day in court.. Fine with me it only takes one conviction imo. There will be a few books with all of the details.

Sounds like he was taunted at the gallows. Many Iraqis do blame him.

yeah i saw the video from the cell phone too. he deserved to be taunted.
even while watching it...it happened so so fast, im sure he didnt feel anything. The most agonizing moments for him would have been the hours and minutes and seconds leading up to that moment.

im sure he has a special place in hell reserved for him :grrr:
