It should be starting soon; gonna be a joint DHS/FBI conference. Port of Miami essentially shut down, except, I believe, for the cruise arrival area -- FBI leading the investigation. FOX news reporting all three men are legal citizens and not on any terrorist watch list. Hopefully they'll have some good news for us in the next 5-10 min.
EDIT: its now at 445ET ...many agencies involved...
EDIT2: Miami-Dade HazMat truck now joining bomb squad vehicles per FoxNews.

Quotes from the news conference
"The Port of Miami is Safe"
"The port was never closed"
"Driver did not have required SeaPort-issued ID"
"routine investigation/background check conducted"
"Miscommunication b/w gate security personnel and truck driver"
"one person did not have any form of identific, which raised concern"
"out of an abundance of caution, we activated security protocol"
"contents did match manifest"
"electronic and car parts were inside"
"a few years ago, this would have taken three or four days"
"used gamma-ray (like an x-ray) to inspect cargo"
"tested for radioactivity, but none found"
"three men still being detained for 'administrative violations' regarding today's incident"
"driver did say at one point that he was alone"
"all three are lawful, permanent residents"
"Iraqi driver is 20 years old, two passengers 28 and 29"
"employed by Dearborn, MI-based company"
"to minimize the situation would be inappropriate in any case"
Sounds like this was never as big of a deal as they (media) made it out to be, but it's good to know that they take every perceived threat seriously.

I agree MSC. I think that may have been a test and I think if it was it shows anyone who tries that it won't be that easy. I say being safe than sorry is the best route.MGC wrote:Better safe than sorry. Trust me if the terrorist can find a way to hit us they will. For all that is known this could have been a probe to test our securtiy.....MGC

Regit wrote:According to the latest on TV, the package was a suitcase or similar object that was going to be loaded onto Royal Caribbean's Majesty of the Seas.
It tested positive to four tests, but bomb sniffing dogs did not detect anything. The package was blown up and the "event" is now over.
Someone is going to dinner in shorts and a t-shirt.
