Big Brother is at it again

I do not think my views are that extreme really. The founding fathers who estabilished our government were very concerned with any one ruling body having to much control which is why we have three. If one can overstep the other such as search and seizure without court orders then what happens to that system of balances. If you do not think that this can be misused you are a lot more trusting than I am. People are dying in Iraq everyday and we are telling them that those rights and freedoms that they will gain are worth it, but we are going to throw our freedoms out of the window when we are a heck of a lot safer than they are?

From 1580ish till 1795 the Dutch Republic existed.
I think a response like 'What do you know of civil liberties' to a foreigner isn't doing much for our standing on the world stage. I understand patriotism, and I don't mean to assume something like this, but are you saying we're the only ones who have a reason to be patriotic and proud of our liberties?
And really, Star Wars is just a movie, and 1984/Animal Farm are just small books.
When a foreigner judges the United States for every thing it does, then yes, I am going to say something. When a foreigner chooses to put down my country on a regular basis, then yes, I am going to say something.
Like it or not, Star Wars IS just a movie.

You are comparing our safety to those in Iraq? Maybe they should adopt the same policies as the US, enforce them and stand on their own two feet. Your statement about questioning the government is extreme and not grounds for a valid argument such as your post above.

I find it odd that people want to throw the word "freedom" in the face of those who protect it.
You awaken and sleep under a blanket of freedom, and then you want to question how that freedom is provided? No one is taking away any freedom by observing and monitoring anything. You're still free to talk on the phone or send mail.
Now if they'd just get to work on this darn internet thing and all the crap that's allowed on it, I'd be happy.

Has anyone used the new GPS feature on Verizon? Michelle (for some odd reason) downloaded it into her phone 3 days ago...I've got to admit it's pretty kewl HOWEVER...it knows EVERY FRIGGIN' thing about YOU
The GOOD thing about this feature, it will ASK you "if" it can track you...you HAVE to give it permission to track you!
