U.S. airstrike in Somalia

#1 Postby Brent » Mon Jan 08, 2007 6:42 pm

Only CBS is reporting it as of now...

Apparently targeting an Al-Qaeda leader responsible for the 1998 U.S. Embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. The report also said that they struck fleeing Al-Qaeda members after the capital of Mogadishu fell to Ethopian troops 10 days ago. Apparently there were many dead, but they haven't confirmed if the leader was killed, although if he was, it would be a huge blow to Al-Qaeda in Africa.

Interesting to say the least...

Good. This is how you endure long wars. Fund the enemies of your enemies, and strike whenever feasible. The UIC was a threat to US interests, along with Ethiopian, and whatever happens in Somalia from here on it won't be allowed to become a new Afghanistan.

Now to deal with the Sudanese and their janjaweed.

Good! At least we're locating and hunting down Al Qaeda. I like to read these stories.

Good riddance! :D

The Washington Post reported that Fazul Abdullah Mohammed, described by U.S. officials as the director al-Qaida operations in East Africa, was killed in the initial attack. The source was Abdirizak Hassan, chief of staff for Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi, who said he heard of Mohammed’s death from U.S. officials.

Hopefully we got a fair number of them.

I guess we can thank the Ethiopians for forcing them out of Mogadishu and on the move where we could track them.

More explosions reported in Mogadishu and more attacks by the U.S.

MOGADISHU, Somalia - U.S. helicopter gunships launched new attacks Tuesday against suspected al-Qaida members, a Somali official said, a day after American forces launched airstrikes in the first offensive in the African country since 18 U.S. troops were killed there in 1993.

Brent, the most wanted Al-Qaeda man in Africa escaped the air strikes. But U.S ships are off the coast so at any moment they can go again and strike pending intelligence data.

CNN was talking last night about the possibility of a wider war with more U.S. involvement. Haven't heard anything else about it though.

That's all we need now.

Arg... I think in order for anyone to explain why they disagree with the notion of an attack it would need to be political.

So as my last post, since I`m sure I made my point..and to keep it non-political.

You mean we're about to get serious finally?

Seriously stupid and pathetic... Yes.

Wouldn't it be easier for these hard to avoid, but interesting to talk about political threads, to just devise a code word or phrase that would allow people to know that it's a personal opinion type thing. Hard to explain, but everyone is going to want to state what is on there minds in these topics, it's easy to get out of control. But it's easy to get back into control, without ruining a good time. Something for the mods to ponder maybe.

They aren't political until other make them political. They can be interesting to talk about and yet still avoid making them political.

Simply put,It's not right to kill ton's of people in the HOPES of catching a bad one in between the good deaths. As aides officials said, the attacks on Somalia hit the wrong people and killed 70 innocent people. But I don't know if the media that side revealed that? But I would rather just leave it here as everything that is behind this 'war on terror' is political. And to get to the roots of my reasons for my statements it would need to be.So just rather leave it at that
