Today, we only got to a high of 62*F with Mostly Cloudy skies, clearing at 3:00PM CST. So much for the 70*F weather we were supposed to get. And once again, we're seeing patchy fog developing in the North Texas region, so far no fog advisories have been issued, but all can change overnight. More on this on the Short Term Forecast:

NWS - Fort Worth wrote:THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR NORTH TEXAS.
.DAY ONE...
NO HAZARDOUS WEATHER IS EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.
.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...
THUNDERSTORM CHANCES WILL RETURN TO ALL OF NORTH TEXAS FRIDAY
THROUGH SATURDAY AS AN UPPER LOW AND ASSOCIATED COLD FRONT MOVE INTO
THE REGION. CLOUD TO GROUND LIGHTNING APPEARS TO BE THE MAIN HAZARD
AT THIS TIME.
.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
SPOTTER ACTIVATION IS NOT EXPECTED.
NWS - Fort Worth wrote:...ARCTIC COLD FRONT EXPECTED SATURDAY WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR
FREEZING PRECIPITATION SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...
A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE THROUGH NORTH TEXAS
SATURDAY...BRINGING MUCH COLDER TEMPERATURES TO THE AREA. WHILE
THERE ARE STILL SOME UNCERTAINTIES IN THE EXACT TIMING OF THE FRONTAL
PASSAGE AND JUST HOW COLD IT WILL BE...IT IS FAIRLY CERTAIN THAT COLD
AIR IS ON THE WAY.
SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ARE POSSIBLE ALONG AND AHEAD OF THE FRONT
FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...BUT AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING
SATURDAY EVENING...ANY LINGERING PRECIPITATION WOULD FALL AS FREEZING
RAIN OR POSSIBLY SLEET SATURDAY NIGHT AND ON INTO SUNDAY. AT THIS
TIME...THERE IS STILL CONSIDERABLE UNCERTAINTY REGARDING THE THREAT
OF WINTER PRECIPITATION AND IT IS TOO DIFFICULT TO PROVIDE SPECIFIC
FORECASTS CONCERNING THE COVERAGE...EXACT TIMING...OR ACCUMULATION
POTENTIAL NEXT WEEKEND.
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS WILL CONTINUE TO ANALYZE
INCOMING WEATHER DATA AND GENERATE MORE PRECISE FORECASTS ON THIS
POTENTIAL WINTER WEATHER EVENT OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. DURING THIS
TIME...PERSONS ACROSS NORTH TEXAS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR NOAA
WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA TO STAY INFORMED OF THIS
DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION.

Another weak cool front will pass through the North Texas region, slightly dropping temperatures to the lower to mid 30s tonight, but a rapid warm-up will occur Tomorrow and Thursday where highs will remain in the 60s and lows will be up in the 50s range. From Thursday through Sunday, we'll see some showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the rain will be freezing on Sunday...although we still wanna see a little less freesing rain and a little more snow. Temperatures will fall back into the 30s by Saturday Night and will probably stay there throughout next Tuesday.

Here's the latest AFD from the NWS in Fort Worth:
.DISCUSSION...
311 AM CST...
MODELS CONTINUE TO BOUNCE AROUND ON THIS WEEKEND/S WEATHER. GFS
NOW TRIES TO DEVELOP A SURFACE LOW OVER THE EDWARDS PLATEAU ON
SATURDAY AND HOLD THE FRONT UP THROUGH SUNDAY. I DID NOT BUY INTO
THAT COMPLETELY AND WENT WELL BELOW GFS MOS ON TEMPERATURES
FIGURING THAT IT IS JUST AS LIKELY THAT THERE WILL BE NO WAVE AND
FRONT WILL MOVE ON THROUGH. ALSO...NAM APPEARS TO SHOW THE COLD
AIR COOLER THAN THE GFS DOES AND LOOKS MORE LIKE AN ARCTIC FRONT
THAN THE GRADUAL TEMPERATURE CHANGE THE GFS IS SHOWING. ONLY PUT
THE WINTER WEATHER IN THE NORTHERN ZONES...BUT IT IS TOO EARLY TO
HAVE ANY CONFIDENCE IN AMOUNTS/SOUTHERN EXTENT/PRECIP TYPE.
FOR EXTENDED...ONCE COLD AIR GETS HERE IT LOOKS LIKE IT WILL
REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH DAY 7...BUT ANY OVERRUNNING THAT MIGHT
OCCUR OVER THE COLD AIR APPEARS TO OCCUR WELL SOUTH OF OUR AREA.
HAVE LOW CONFIDENCE THAT THERE WILL BE NO CHANCES FOR MORE WINTER
WEATHER AS LONG AS THE COLD AIR REMAINS OVER NORTH TEXAS...MODELS
OFTEN FLIP FLOP ON LOCATIONS OF THESE DISTURBANCES. YESTERDAY GFS
BROUGHT A DISTURBANCE OVER CENTRAL TX ON TUESDAY...TODAY/S RUN
TAKES IT OVER THE GULF.

THE MORNING COMMUTE WILL BE HAMPERED BY SCATTERED SHOWERS OVER THE

OF NORTH TEXAS BY TONIGHT AS A COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH THE
REGION. AN ICE STORM WARNING IS IN EFFECT FOR THE NORTHWEST PORTION
WHERE FREEZING RAIN AFTER MIDNIGHT WILL RESULT IN ICE ACCUMULATIONS

Throughout the morning and early afternoon hours, we've had some rain with some lightning and wintry mix...or as I like to call it "ThunderMix". While some of the precip wasn't frozen earlier, many trees and power lines are still in danger of the freeze. And just to add more insult to injury, there was flooding in the immediate DFW area as well as the cities of Corsicana, Richland, Navarro, and Canton. A second wave of icy precip is imminent on Sunday, and many church services are cancelled until the next Sunday.

The National Weather Service has extended the ICE STORM WARNING for areas along and west of a Bonham, Dallas, Waxahachie, Cleburne, Meridian, and Killeen line until Noon CST, and a Freezing Rain Advisory for areas East of the above mentioned cities until 6:00PM CST. The good news is that the wintry precip is winding down in DFW and moving East, the bad news is the obvious, the icing of many roads and delays in travel times.
But Old Man Winter isn't quite finished with us, a chance of rain/snow has been forecasted for Wednesday.

A Snow Advisory continues for most of North Texas including the DFW area until 6:00PM CST. I finally got my wish to see more snow and less sleet!
Don't mean to brag, but haven't seen a good snow in 1 1/2 years, and now I'm enjoying every minute of it. Anyways, snow accumulations will total up to 2 inches.
A WINTER STORM WARNING is also in effect until 6:00PM CST This evening for the extreme southern portion of North Texas where accumulations of 1/4 in. freezing rain and an inch of snow and sleet is expected.
