Cable TV upgrade

#1 Postby coriolis » Sun Jan 14, 2007 8:16 pm

Our regional cable provider was bought out by Comcast recently. I've heard people complain about Comcast, but so far it's good.

We had 120 or so channels, now we have 160 or so. We picked up another version of The Weather Channel - it's like a continuous local forecast. We also picked up several serious channels like a 2nd History Channel and another Science channel, etc. The pay-per-view movies are actually cheaper, and they are all all-day shows. The best part about the PPV's is that you can pause and rewind them if you missed something. How cool is that?! So far no major rate increase.

The customer service is still good since they kept the local office of the old company. So I got nothing to complain about.

Well, I sure wish they would buy CableOne out.

I like Comcast and would still have them for TV if they had the NFL games. I still have them for Internet and have no problems.

Yes, that's it. It shows data for Harrisburg which is about 100 miles south of here. My location does show up on that radar and they are usually about 3 or 4 degrees warmer than here.

We are supposed to go through the changeover to Comcast soon here in Houston. I hope we have the same experience you are having.

We'd love to switch back to cable but the occasional flyers we receive in the mail are bogus. We should report our local cable company. They'll claim you can have it all for one low monthly price. But you can't. It's complicated, so I won't go into details. But for one brief moment we imagine switching over to cable, having cable in our bedroom again (we have 13 channels now!), high speed, phone, etc. and then wham, they say oh no, your bill will actually be.......

And we still have Satellite. Ugh.

Each time we get a new flyer, my husband says - be my guest, call that cable company, tell them this is what we'd like and if we're to believe this promo, then our monthly bill should be and it's not. You fight back and forth with the cable co. receptionist. What a fun job she has!

Yup, we ought to report them! There's probably some tiny print to cover their butt on the flyer. Which I can't read anyway......

Ed - enjoy your new cable lineup. I can only dream of having such a lineup, at a good price that is!

We have Comcast heer (the only cable in Philly so far)I would love to ditch it, but I keep it for the hubby since he is home 24/7, if he wasn't around I'd ditch it as I don't watch TV (only the World Series  )

We had Comcast in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, now it was replaced with Time Warner Cable. I still wish they would've left WeatherScan alone, or they could've at least move it to the digital tier.
