As Fredericksburg goes, apparently so does my part of Austin ... we now have moderate sleet falling again. It snowed -- mostly light -- for about 30-40 minutes.

OB Error. It's 10C at 850mb and the freezing level was at over 12,000' as of the 12Z sounding.

Not the kind of sounding you look for to get snow out of :-)

Well then more snow will be headed your way...just started snowing with large flakes falling from the sky.

If I'm looking at the radar correctly, it looks like some heavy snow /sleet is headed our way (hopefully it will be enough for snow to accumulate).

JB just posted a column update and said for the next 10 days or so, the weather in the Big 12 South will be more like the Big 12 North! More ice and snow on the way for Texas this coming weekend. JB says "when was the last time Austin, Texas had 3 ice/snow events in 10 days?"

So, if we're in event "one" ... then two more to go?!

There's some in the forecast for DFW this weekend, but temps are currently forecasted to be above freezing during the day. I know that can change, but so far it doesn't look like anything too bad especially if the temps get into the 40's like forecasted.

It did start snowing ... but now it's back to sleet. The big fluffy snow was pretty to see fall.

Some moderate/heavy snow now falling in Fredericksburg, look out Austin, I think this is headed your way.

I hope our friends in Houston will see some white stuff tonight too.

Just heard from my daughter in Kyle. She reports it is snowing hard there & has turned everything white in 30 mins. She was on her way out to build a snowman. Since the moisture is coming out of the southwest Austin may get this in a short while.

I still haven't seen anything here, but I'm convinced I won't. Sleet, freezing rain and/or snow to my north, northwest, northeast, and west. But the kicker...(no pun intended, Portastorm) it is POURING SLEET to my SOUTH, in Groves!! Also, my sister got sleet briefly in Beaumont about an hour ago. She said it only lasted about a minute or so.

I'm happy for some of you getting snow and/or sleet...send some my way, will ya?
