Snow and Sleet is back into the Texarkana forecast tonight and tomorrow. It's supposed to change over to rain on Thursday, but with dew points in the upper teens, I doubt it will change over and remain frozen.

Just looking at how evap. cooling has worked here in Montgomery County and the radar trends, it looks like to me this one is going to be a decent ice storm for my location.

I now have ice on my vehicles, wooden fence, leaves on the trees etc. Icicles are hanging from my golf cart, roof and car port and from the bumper of my truck.

I buddy of mine said that he was at Walmart and a couple said that their was snow on the ground in Madisonville. Can anyone confirm this? I really don't think that their is.

I am getting icicles starting to form on the sides of the roof now. Nothing big yet but I did note some icicles as long as an inch or so already.

Looks like things should go downhill overnight. The ice storm looks like it is playing out after all..

I'm thinking I'm looking at light freezing precip through Wednesday. I think the precip will increase on Thursday and remain frozen as the arctic air will be hard to displace. This weekend is when the big event is possible. Temps are marginal on the models right now, but we all know the GFS doesnt do a good job of handling arctic air, especially now that there is a lot of ice and snow on the plains.

Portastorm,

Spencer's backed off that. Now saying the NWS is predicting up to 3-4 inches in the Austin area. Said it's too hard to predict snow as opposed to the mixed stuff, but does say looks like snow after midnight. At most, he will commit to an inch of snow.

Info KXAN has coming in from San Angelo is saying points east of there, but west of Austin to pick up 5-7" of snow.

I am now getting eyewitness reports from the Grand Parkway area in Katy and from SH 249 and Grant Road area(NW Houston) of icing beginning. Temps have dropped at least 1.5-2 degrees all over W Houston in the last hour and most areas from the Loop 610 Westward are now below freezing. I am at Buffalo Bayou and Loop 610 and it is 30.8º here. Heading out so I can get home before anything really begins.

BE SAFE EVERYONE!!! We could have a possible very nasty situation by morning, especially in our outlying metro areas.

Oh, I know what he is saying ... Mark Murray on KVUE, too, is suggesting a little snow. I just think the air column above us will remain too warm for consistent snow. I think a wintry mix is definitely likely though. Meanwhile, I was just outside and I would say moderate sleet/freezing rain is falling. This will surely ice up whatever ice has melted.

Another interesting item. TxDOT is saying they are running out of de-icer and they may have to shut down elevated roadways here tonight because of that.

Alright ... didn't know we had someone from Del Rio on the board! I go down there a lot to visit mi familia (in-laws, that is).

So, hriverajr ... any accumulation down there yet?

palms are starting to freeze up here now. It is weird b/c when the wind blows there is all the sudden a shower of ice that falls from them. It kind of looks like snow for a second or two actually. It is kind of interesting since I have never seen a palm tree in freezing rain before.
