Raining good here now, the temp. has dropped from 38 to 35 in about 20 min. still ticking down 34.4, 34.3 could get interesting sooner than I ever expected.

You are personally seeing snow? We don't have any over here yet.

We didn't see any here. My 3rd graders would have gone berserk!
Did it actually fall? Where did all this snow/sleet south of us come from? I keep up to date with the weather and I was surprised to see the advisories. we are about 5 miles from the Johnson county line.

Here is a picture of some of the light icing going on in my area right now (picture taken at 5:15pm)...

As you can see it is not too bad at the moment (just a few small icicles and frozen water droplets), but I anticipate things will go downhill with the next batch of precip.

This weekend is when the big event is possible. Temps are marginal on the models right now, but we all know the GFS doesnt do a good job of handling arctic air, especially now that there is a lot of ice and snow on the plains.

I wonder if the GFS is under doing the cold again? What happened to our warm up in the 50's that the NWS was advertising, doesn't look like we will get out of the 40's for a while.

update to this post: Those same icicles have grown and small ones now line the sides of houses as another batch of freezing rain is starting now. Looks like those ice accumulations of 1/4"+ may actually play out tonight.

I am just hoping I don't lose power! That would really not be fun in this cold weather.

Looks like the precip is building to the southwest of Austin again. I wonder if it will come as snow or freezing rain or both? So it finally looks like Houston is going to get in on the action...Hopefully it won't be to bad.

I am still not too optimistic about it... I dont know why... Still not too sure on the icing here... Still at 33.1 here... when it starts to rain the temps drop and when it stops raining the temps rise....

I buddy of mine said that he was at Walmart and a couple said that their was snow on the ground in Madisonville. Can anyone confirm this? I really don't think that their is.

Was that your golf cart I just saw on channel 2?
