Noticing the winds are calm at Llano, Mason, and Burnet. Also it looks less like freezing rain, and more like just plain rain here in northwest Austin. This is going to make for really bad roads because at 28 or 29, it's going to freeze on the roadways. I'm seeing water run-off now. :(

Where's my snow?

Technically Wren it IS freezing rain. All rain falling but since the surface temps are below freezing, it is categorized as "freezing rain."

And yes, you're right ... this freezing rain is really going to make hell on the roads (as if they weren't bad enough).

Once again, I'm expected at my bro's house in Katy, TX tomorrow morning around 8:30 a.m. Wonder if we'll all be housebound in the morning? How much you wanna bet everything will be normal under the Bear Creek Dome and once I get 2 miles from my house, I'll be totally screwed?

Jeff -- We've seen about .25 precip in the last 12 hrs or so, including a trace of snow. We have had freezing rain since 5:45 pm and it is continuing here at 8 p.m. FYI, I live in the northern part of Austin, about 12 miles north-northwest of the capitol.

Well I hope those of you to the south and east get sleet, and not freezing rain. This is exactly what none of us need.

Thanks, Portastorm. I didn't know that even if it was just plain ol rain coming down that it would be called freezing rain just because the temp is below freezing.

Situation not good, and probably only going to get worse. If it's gonna rain, I wish the temp would rise so that no more ice forms.

Can you imagine trying to catch beads in this weather?? I can tell you from experience, it's hard to catch 'em when your fingertips are cold.

How's about crawfish!

The break seems to be filling in a tiny bit, but either way the break will likely not last too long. Look back behind it..
