Spank your child = go to JAIL?!?!?!

One incident does not reflect the state as a whole; I know many people in this country believe that we are just a bunch of spoiled brats in million dollar homes, but that's reall not the case.

Good ole' California.... that state should be a country all by its self.

I definitely do not agree with this, as with many, I think spanking is perfectly fine and that society would be better as a whole. Sometimes it does go too far, but the benefits of disciplinary action far outweighs the risks, as long as it is done when it is appropriate. IMO, the idea that spanking should be outlawed is absurd.




EDIT: OK, outlawing spanking for 3 yr olds and younger - that is understandable. (Got to read the article before responding )

Um okay LOL! If you think this is just one incident, look up their state Supreme Court and take a look see at the high courts rulings.

I was never spanked, never got in trouble, and had unlimited freedoms to do as I please... look where it got me, high school drop-out, unemployed and battling personal issues.

Sometimes I wish I was taught some discipline.

I don't think spanking is wrong as long is just a swat to know you mean business. And not abuse to where you cause injury to a child. I don't believe in spanking with a belt however because I think that is abuse. My earliest memory at age 3 was getting beaten by a belt by my dad. Yes, at age 3, that is the earliest memory I have. My dad has a horrible temper that is very easily set off over the slightest thing. And I gotten spanked with a belt numerous times even over the most minor things. Enough to cause welts and bruises and child protection had even got involved. I am now 30, and of course have not been hit in years by a belt. I have forgave my dad, but I will never forget. To this day even though I still live under the same roof with him for 2 weeks out of the month, I am still scared of him. We don't have a very good relationship at all and rarely speak unless we have to.

When I went to school if you did not do your homework you got beaten bad!!!!So bad that you can not sit in the chair!!!!!They pulled your pants down and tanned your butt!!!!!The same if you got into a fight or just acting like a jerk.After school then you have the parents turn.
I can recall with one teacher she beat our butts just for loseing your page when we were reading out load.

I was never spanked as a child except for maybe twice when I was two, and I was a pretty good child and didn't get in much trouble, however my brother and sister were spanked all the time and they were always in trouble lol.

Little by little, state by state, law by law, the government will eventually control what we eat, drink, smoke, have sex with, what we drive, where we work, what we wear, how many hours we sleep, how many times a week we crap, etc.

That's the plan. Take control of the kids from the parents, drug the difficult ones into submission, and brainwash the rest.

My parents beleived that if you just spend time with your kid and if you just sit down with them and talk about the do's and don'ts, they'll turn out fine. They did that with me and I turned out fine, passing grades, a clean record, and a good choice of friends.

Consistency in whatever mode of descipline is the key. Whether spanking, time out or a good talking to - be consistent!!! If something is wrong it's always wrong whether the parent is in a good or bad mood. Did I spank my kids? You can bet your bottom I did. Was I spanked as a kid? Oh yes, many times. Can I remember what I was spanked for? To this day, I can remember what I did wrong to get those many spankings. Has anyone other than my parents ever laid a hand on me? NO Has anyone other than me ever laid a hand on my kids? NO

I don't believe that anyone other than responsible parents should spank a child but I do believe in spankings. Oh and there is a place to be spanked. I've always thought that God created well padded bottoms for that reason ----- Not faces, arms or legs - just on the bottom!!
