Line 71

Hi all... Just wanted to pass along some advice I heard on the radio concerning taxes... Most people dont know or havent heard about line 71 on you federal tax return, it has to do with the new phone tax... You dont need to have any past telephone bills, but if you have had phone service between now and 2003 you are able to get a credit on your taxes... If you have your phone records from 2003 till now you can do a "long form" and add up the taxes you paid and deduct them from your return. I think the standard you can get back is 30.00 but if you have any dependents you get an extra 10.00 per dependent. My husband and I got 60.00 back. Just remember to look for Line 71. Just wanted to pass this along, as they arent advertising it.... !

It's true. I had H&R block do mine and I got the credit.

I always go for the rapid refund in January. It usually helps us get rid of the Christmas hangover.
