God I HATE "The Weather Channel!"

#1 Postby azsnowman » Mon Jan 22, 2007 3:24 pm

I swear, TWC has been BAD in the PAST but this crapola YESTERDAY REALLY frosted my cookies :grr:

I BLASTED them for their "Local on the 8's" here in Pinetop, Show Low...they had NOTHING for us when we had a Winter Storm Warning in place. We had TONS of skiers up here, staying at the hotels that all carry TWC on their in house tv systems and we had a HUGE problem with people getting STRANDED because of their BOGUS forecasts :x

I put it in TWC Forum over "there"...

The Weather Channel? Is that MTV 3? Seriously, since their more general method of forecasts and the documentaries and fluff shows they have aired since 2000, I have seen TWC maybe five minutes total each year. The only time I may watch the TWC for hours (like in the 1980s and 1990s) is when I am sick, too sick to get up and pop a DVD or VHS in and just want to be up in the family room.

It is the Internet for me.

Thats a weather channel similarity. The Weather Network up here only focuses on southern Ontario most of the time. They very very seldom show anything at all for the Territories. The blizzard BC and the Prairies just had, biggest in some 50-75 years, they never really payed attention to it, besides the 2 second warning maps they have because commercials are always playing. I don't even remember seeing much mention more than the usual "someone walking in the snow" photo during weather network news when they say the word snow.

They've missed the last few weeks with us.

That's why I check the NWS site and the models at Unisys.

TWC radar shows precip when we're out in the yard, walking the dog.

"It's raining, Alex - Run! Run!"

There is a simple solution to this problem. Just do not turn it on and tune in to Storm2K for your weather updates or tune in to NOAA. :cheesy:

Speaking of TWC, two things to mention....

I finally managed to get my password to work right and was able to still use Miss Mary over there. Yep, I could read the boards again. And guess what - they're not nearly as interesting as I thought they'd be, go figure.....LOL!!!

I saw Dave Schwartz doing an update yesterday and he was going on and on about safe winter driving. Basically reprimanding viewers for not knowing winter precip was out there and getting into accidents. Okay then......but here's what I noticed? Has he aged or what? On a serious note, maybe he's not been well but he dropped some pounds I see. He looks haggard. Maybe we're all getting older though.....

Actually what I find scary/sketchy is that I actually prefer that commercial to TWC now!

Jim Cantore was probably regaling you with another tale about a tornado that sideswiped a Kroger. Fortunately for everyone inside the store, the buggy boys were on top of the situation and moved the customers out of harm's way.

I haven't watched TWC in a few years now.

She's one of the main reasons I don't watch...along with Mike Bettes. I understand they want eye candy, but aren't there smart and beautiful people out there?

Ouch... that's a little rough.

She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Meteorology from Florida State University. She also earned a B.S. degree in geography from the University of Florida, where she graduated with honors and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. In addition, she has acquired a minor in mathematics.

In my opinion, that's pretty amazing to me and qualifies as smart to me.

Just because someone is attractive doesn't make them "dumb".

The Weather Channel is located in Atlanta, right? Is that why they focus so heavily on there?

I know it's a major US city, but they give it a lot more focus than other cities of the same or greater size.
