Oldest Person in the World dies

I just got the news from the site of one of the newspapers in Puerto Rico.He was the only person alive in the world until today that was in World War 1.Late last year the Guinness people said that he was the oldest person in the world.My prayers go to his family.There are more photos at the hypertext link above.

Yep. I'm afraid that as years go by people will begin to be overwhelmed by the numbers and general society won't have a clue what the years 1914-1945 meant.

people have a hard time remembering what event took place in 2003...or (if your not into history or weren't there for the event) 1986. Feb 1, 2003 and Jan 28, 1986.

Meaning no disrespect, isn't it true that the "headline" for this story cannot ever really be correct or factual?

I mean, as soon as the oldest person dies, he/she is no longer the oldest person since that title instantly transfered to the "living" oldest person.

I edited the title to add the date of death.

That's one title that people won't die for.

The title given to a person in an obituary is the title they had immediately prior to the time of death, so it's both journalistically and gramatically correct. 8-)
