Yes...it makes perfect sense. The 6-10 day oulook is valid from the 6 - 10 Feb. The threat is valid on the 3rd and 4th.

Thank you AFM, I just realized that after I posted. I was paying too much attention to the graphic and not the date it was valid for.....duh!

AFM, do you think that Texas will have any more decent shots of arctic air this winter? It just seems that time might be running out for us in Texas and it would sure be nice to get one really good cold blast before we start to enter into spring.

Time is running out quick. We have a couple of more weeks and that is it. We can still get cold in March....but it's rare.

Thanks for the detailed analysis AFM....much appreciated. I'm ready for the cold to to go away! Like I said before, cold weather is only good for the holiday season and for deer hunting. Other than that you can have it.

Well, it looks like we will be cool but nothng drastic. Every year I see the first signs of spring not too long after Valentines Day. In other words, spring is just around the corner for us here in Southeast, Texas. Boy am I looking forward to the changing of the seasons!

I'm not the only warm/hot weather fan am I?

I love the cold weather, but I think that this next system that is moving in over the weekend is going to be nothing more than a little chilly in the mornings... I think during the day is going to be great... and nice sunny weather.... Looks to be a beautiful weekend... I am thinking that winter is over... I like spring though, I like to think I have a green thumb....

I'm not so sure about it being sunny this weekend. Both the GFS and ECMWF show a trof hanging back in west Texas Sat/Sun. That could mean overcast and cold but at least with no rain. If it clears out, we'll easily drop below freezing, though.

Give me a 100 degree July afternoon any day!

Back in '05 we wanted to leave Dallas for a warmer climate. I limited my job search to: Houston, Phoenix, Tampa, and Orlando. :bday:

Edit: Austin was in the mix too, but more for the scenery than the weather, altho it is better than DFW.

I can confirm that it is in fact snowing in Wise County, northwest of DFW as of 2 pm

Looks like you're on the good side of that line the NWS mentions.

As I predicted it would do last night, it is now snowing in Denton. Once again, the local NWS office has been caught with their head in the sand. With the Low the South and the High to the north, with the bulk of the precipitation shield still centered overhead and a dewpoint around freezing, i expect some accumulating snowfall even though DFW thinks otherwise.

Snowing at Coit/121 in Plano too. Sweetness.

Nothing sticking though, temps are above freezing.

This winter totally blew the lid off the one-wintry-event-a-season pattern I've observed since moving here in summer 2002. Snow in November, ice and 3 snowfalls in January, now some more flurries today. I just wish we'd get something a little more substantial...like the 5" megasnow of February 14, 2004. :eek:

We had a nice little thunderstorm that produced some pea-sized hail in Fredericksburg. I guess now I can say I saw some ice today too. :lol:

This is weird weather, Dallas is getting snow, and south central Texas is basking under 60 degree temperatures.

And it wasn't supposed to snow/sleet today either. At least not in the metroplex. Now, it's snowing quite a bit outside with a lot more on the radar.
