We got down to -1.1 degrees lat night...and our low was suppose to only have dropped 11 or so. Tonight, we are to drop to 4 above. Guess we will see how far we slide tonight. Also have a wind chill advisory tonight through noon tomorrow.

It's cold, and it's easy to deal with, but it's always about the wind. -11 now with a NW wind of about 10 - 15mph.

It feels like -12 in Grand Rapids right now, even though that's not quite Great Plains (but close enough).

Its all headed for the Midwest and Northeast....

Parts of Ohio will not get above 10F for the next several days with lows in the 0-10 below zero with windchills from 15-25F below zero. Winds will gust up to 45mph

Ouch that is all I have to say

Weather from my old hometown (Sterling, Il.):

Tonight: Mostly clear, with a low around -15. Wind chill values between -24 and -29. West wind between 9 and 13 mph.

Sunday: Partly cloudy and cold, with a high near 2. Wind chill values between -20 and -30. West wind between 9 and 16 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around -12. Wind chill values between -22 and -29. Northwest wind between 13 and 16 mph.

Monday: Mostly sunny and cold, with a high near -1. Wind chill values between -20 and -30.

I remember a day in the 1970's when I was in freshman in highschool one morning the real air temp. was -40 and the windchill was -100!!! needless to say I didn't walk to school that day (I didn't go at all that day) but school didn't close. Man the school district got in trouble for that!

Geesh... I can't even imagine temperatures like those! While it might be interesting for a couple of days, I think I would quickly tire of temps that cold. It would be miserable to try and do anything outdoors.

NWS Duluth:

The Northland will be blasted with Arctic air this weekend and early next week. Temperatures fell below zero Thursday night and will not climb back to above zero until Tuesday. That will give us about eighty-four hours of below zero temperatures (give or take 5 to 10 hours).

Yep, that's cold!!

I'm done with winter now.. freezing my tush off and REALLY tired of the temps hovering at or below 0. Let's not discuss windchill's. It's caused a super huge wave of flu, strep, and RSV to hit. Almost every kid I know to be down with something the past 2 weeks (and a couple landed in the hospital). And once they get it they love to share with us grown ups :P I love snow.. it's the cold that kills.

Ok that's my winter blues rant...

Coldest night of the winter so far. Down to -5.8 degrees last night with a wind chill of -21. Today we will hopefully start to modify a little bit. By the weekend, we could be close to 30 degrees. Break out the shorts!
