I love steamed Blue Crabs, but for whatever reason I can't bring myself to even try a crawfish. Perhaps I'll get over it some day.

It's not that bad. Once you've had crawfish a few times, the spasms and vomiting usually gets less intense.

Just kidding. They are quite good, and kind of fun to eat too, but they can be really messy. I like crawfish etouffe and crawfish pie.

They're not bugs. They're crustaceans.

Ed, they're usually just a few inches long, almost like large shrimp or prawns. And well worth the trouble. :)

I saw a commercial (Prilosec, Nexium? something like that) with Brett Favre and even he called them CRAWfish. And he's from the north.

(No, seriously, I know he was born in Gulfport, MS)

Brett Farve is a Southern Mississippi boy. Born and raised right here on the MS Gulf Coast. He lives in Kiln, MS. I can just see someone asking for a crustacean around here.

Here in Louisiana, crawfish are usually boiled by the sack which is 30-45 lbs. outdoors with friends over. It's done often on weekends several times during the season. We also add to them seafood gumbo, stews, and etoufe (sp?). To us, it's completely normal to eat 4 lbs. of them at a time, and they don't take long to peel at all. They are called crawfish here.
