Over an inch of snow here. 8-) EDIT: Measured around 2 inches. So 1 1/2-2 inches here.

The snow was pretty heavy at times and is light right now.

Will post pictures later..

Here's a few pictures taken around midnight.

It looks like the last significant band of snow will move through soon.

At least you saw some :) All we got down here was R-A-I-N. It'll be 22 degrees and clear one night and the next it'll be 35 and raining. Sometimes it STINKS to live in the deep south

Hey, we got around 1", which most of it melted, quickly. Still some snow
lying in shady spots. Forecasts of a "dusting" for us, again, tonight. OK -
maybe I'll keep my snow shoes handy... for fun.

This is a long way out, but worth keeping an eye on.

from Birmingham...
ITS BEYOND THE SCOPE OF THIS FORECAST...BUT THE 00Z RUN OF THE GFS
SHOWED A POTENTIALLY ICY SCENARIO FOR ALABAMA AROUND THE 13TH AND
14TH...WITH A GULF WAVE TRYING TO PLOW INTO A WELL ESTABLISHED
COLD AIR DAMMING WEDGE. WHILE MODEL SOLUTIONS ARE BOUND TO BE ALL
OVER THE PLACE BETWEEN NOW AND THEN...WE WILL CONTINUE TO WATCH
HOW THINGS DEVELOP WITH THIS POTENTIAL SYSTEM

Agree there Icicle, if this solution was to play out the south is in for another bout of wintry precip.

Looks like next week could be interesting. New England is due for a major northeaster, all the coastal storms have been moving out too fast to produce significant snowfall accumulations. With a blocking high in place and energy pulling out of the gulf states IMHO we should see the first foot+ accumulations near the coastal cities.

Linda, it looks like we may get some warmer weather mid-week. The forecast calls for mid- to upper-60s. I sure hope so. We are going to our first ball of the season later this week and I'm hoping I won't have to carry a jacket. :)
Of course, I'm not so good at reading the models. But, it looks like if that model scenario plays out, it could cause some problems for the parades next week. Even if it isn't wintry precip, rain can cause them to postpone or cancel.

Me too! This morning the heat was out at my school and it was downright freezing!!

Tuesday's high is around 60 (warm!!), but Thursday's is around 40. Tomorrow should melt the snow still on the ground in shady areas.

Although I do like the cold and snow (when we get it). I just like a few mild winter days mixed in there.

Slight chance of rain/snow Saturday and Sunday.

The GFS tends to take the 0*C line too far to the south during the winter, which is one reason I take those long-range models with a handful of salt.

Hey Icicle, many times its a matter of taking the model bias into account. Every computer model has its own biases. This is one of GFS's little problem areas.
