Surgery scheduled...9/6/07, will be admitted 9/4

#1 Postby therock1811 » Sun Feb 04, 2007 3:39 pm

Tomorrow's the day of my cystoscopy. I am extremely nervous about what's going to happen. Hoping everything comes out okay...it will happen at 12:30pm ET. Should be home by 3pm and will really be taking it easy for the afternoon.

Good luck with your surgery Jeremy. I hope all goes well and it is quick and painless for you. Prayers for you so that you may get better quickly.

Jeremy - you'll definitely be in my thoughts and prayers. I remember how apprehensive I got before my surgeries, so I completely understand.

Here's a trick that works for me. I project forward in time, so I worry less. For example, try saying to yourself - at this time tomorrow, I'll be home and recovering (approx. 24 hours later), etc. And this surgical procedure will be behind you.

Wishing you the best, as always Jeremy.

Funny, but I really feel like it's dejavu every time I go under. I take the laughing gas, I feel funny, like I'm not even in my body, and next thing I know I'm awake. It's weird...I know, I'm saying completely random stuff but that's what it's like.

Well here's the aftermath:

They scheduled me for 6 different appointments in one week...March 12-16. Almost all are on the 12th. Here's the schedule as I have it written down:

March 12

Lab work 8:30am
Formal Urodynamics 9:15
VCUG 10:45am
Injection for Renal Cortical Scan 1pm
Renal Cortical Scan 2:30pm

March 16
Complex Clinic II 3pm

I have never had the Renal Cortical Scan...wonder how they do that??

They are talking about the kidney cortical scan. If I remember right, it involves drinking some fluid that shows up on X-ray of some type so they can see internal structure of kidney cortical. Hope this helps.

Yeah, beyond that...I wonder what they want to look for there? It's probably nothing.

Jeremy they could be looking for problems with the kidney, or the tube that carries the urine from the kidney to the bladdder. My son had the problem of the tube suddenly narrowing after his kidney transplant and had to have a little bit of surgery to fix it but after that he has had no problems with the transplant.

Correct me if I am wrong but are you in a wheelchair of some type? If you are , sitting down all the time can cause problems of any kind because of inaction of the muscles that we use to walk and bend with. Talk with your doctors about an excercise you can do to keep in shape so problems will not be so critical when they happen.
