Miami, FL: Frost in the windshields (Pictures)

#1 Postby HURAKAN » Mon Feb 19, 2007 1:13 pm

This morning it got cold enough for the dew in the windshields to turn into ice.

Here is a slideshow of the pictures:

I live near the NHC. At 6 AM the temperature in the Kendall-Tamiami Airport was 33ºF, and 42ºF was the temperature in the Miami Airport. I live right in the middle of both stations, so I would extrapolate my temperature to have been around 37º-38ºF.

The ice was quite strong. It took a lot of force to take it out of the windshield with your finger. It was quite an experience!!!

Extremely surprised that the temps got that low in Miami. We had ice on the windshields here too but are also 100 miles north

Wow, thats amazing.... thanks for sharing the photos. That was the morning it dropped to 12° at our airport (which is the coolest spot in the metro area typically) and that was about 19° BELOW average. It dropped to 19° at my house that morning. BRRRR.. Later that day, temperatures rose into the mid 50s..... then....
two days later it was near 70°.

Since I came to the United States in 1999 this was the second time I had seen frost in the windshields. The first time was January 5, 2001, when it got very cold allowing dew to turn into ice not just in the windshields but also in the grass.
