It's hard to pick just 5, but here are my favorites more or less in order:

1.) Las Vegas, NV
2.) New Orleans, LA
3.) London, England, UK
4.) NY, NY
5.) Chicago, IL

Other favorites in no particular order:

Caerphilly, Wales, UK
Oslo, Norway (awesome but too expensive)
Helsinki, Finland (like Oslo)
Portland, OR
Seattle, WA
Amsterdam, Netherlands
San Francisco, CA
San Antonio, TX
Miami, FL
Orlando, FL
Key West, FL
Atlanta, GA (Awesome, but horrible traffic. I went to college here.)
Denver, CO
Phoenix, AZ
Indianapolis, IN

Hard to just pick out 5. All of the cities I've visited have something which makes them special. But I'll give it a try...

1. Rome
2. Berlin
3. Hanoi
4. Istanbul
5. Veere (tiny city has been untouched since the 17th century)

6. My own city, nothing beats coming back to it after a trip abroad ;)

I know someone who visited the city/town/village during a month-long stay in The Netherlands a couple of years ago. She called it one of the most fascinating places on the planet.
