Time Change -(March 11)

#1 Postby Bobbie Lee » Tue Feb 27, 2007 8:48 pm

We go to Daylight Savings time on March 11th this year -- I knew changes were coming in '07 but they sneaked up on me anyway. :P

Back to Standard Time November 4th.

Oh... thank goodness! I'm looking forward to the sunlight during the evening. Being on shift for the past six months, I miss the sun!

I like the new change. No more blaring sun in my eyes on the way to school and more sun at night.

By having more daylight during the evening hours, we tend to use less electricity for lighting and whatnot. It ends up saving a good deal of energy and oil.

YAY! Can't wait!

It'll make getting up at 7am 4 days a week that much harder though.

But with sunrise coming an hour later, wouldn't you just be using more light in the morning?

It's too darn early, if you ask me.

Usually during the morning people are in situations where they are sharing light with co-workers. It's sort of the "car-pool" method.

If I can find it, I'll post some numbers from our power company here in Omaha. Power usage drops a good deal during daylight saving time.

I know I will be glad to get the sun out of my eyes when I am driving home from work.

I'll get an extra month of bike riding in the evenings after work.

As for the sun in your eyes - I've learned over the years to always find a place to live that's east of my work. That way the sun is at my back during the commute morning and evening.

Cool... an extra hour to drink on my birthday!!!

Theoretically, this seems a good time to change savings time... down the road, it will save the US precious money.

Fortunately, we don't go in DST in AZ.

Only a Masochist would want more evening daylight in Phoenix AZ. Also, by having sunrise an hour later you deprive the joggers of that cool first hour of daylight to do their thing before they have to go to work which is why the majority of Arizonans (who live in and around Phoenix) want nothing to do with DST.

At link above is all you need to know about Daylight Savings Time. For me here in Puerto Rico it does not affect us because we never change the time.

I enjoy DST. It allows me time to relax by working in my flowerbeds, sitting outside, etc. I don't feel as rushed to get home and make dinner.

More time to enjoy spending the late afternoon/early evening in the park between all the flowers after college with my girlfriend :)

Cycling in the morning to university while it is still dark :(
