Help on interesting project-hobby

#1 Postby LMolineux » Sun Jun 15, 2003 7:11 pm

I know this part is a bit OT(off topic) But i think this will be a good stepping stone for my collection/hobbie.

I know many of you people might understand this and all. Also i dont mean to step on the TWC item problems.

But i am a true blooded TWC fan. I bring my VCR with me on vacations across this fine country. I have asked many people in the past for help on this project/collection i am doing. It is very basic. David can also back me up on this. I had went on this sprey back in high school it started out as a high school video class project for editing. It got me going since i saw the Weather Star 4000 with the graphics on there so i chose that as my project to work on using the different locations you see on the Local Forecast's from different cities<Like how the regional maps with the cities on there where different from like lets say Boston to the one you see on the one i have here in Philadelphia because it is a different geographical location.> So in turn i tried to do it for the school project but it turned into a hobby of mine. It is awsome to see the local forecast (even though it is old) from a different area. To see how much different the screens look and the cities depicted. So i went over time on a sprey to ask people in the past if they could be so kind as to record a 2 hour block of TWC on a blank video tape. Some people did Even David was so kind as to send me a tape of his local forecast from his cable suplier. That was Really cool. My bonus one is one from Anchorage Alaska. Just seing that was awsome. But i just want to cover as much of the contry as possible with this. If you could be so kind as to contact me if you are interested in helping me out or have further questions dont hesitate on asking away. I am a nice open minded person. I have 42 areas covered already which isnt bad from 1995 and with little resources.

Again Thak you all for welcomeing me to the Message board i will enjoy my stay and also add my input and also joining once and a while the contests here. I had won once on WxChat so my chances here are good also. LOL

Thank you.

I mentioned in your other thread about this... I would be interested, but I am not sure about the transfer of videos. My parents would wonder why I would be doing something with tapes, even though I am 26 years old.

Sorry.

That would be awsome of the both of you's.
I dont see a big problem if you claim your 26 right of doing that but its ok.
Where do you live at in florida. If you could be so kind to do this for me it would be the greatest. Maybe you could also talk to the others or your friends across the country to try to help me out with this that would be so awsome.

Remember when I took the tape back to IL for you Lee? Only to find out that my inlaws had satellite and didn't have a local segment.

I don't have a VCR any more, or I'd send you a copy from here in Phoenix.

Good to see you again Lee. Geesh...we go back quite a few years!!!!

Yeah Guys, I tried to record a hurricane event sometime back in 1997, but no other live shots were on. So, it just recorded my local forecast. Then, I recorded some from 2001, and sent it in. :)

Hope some people can help. :D

David.

I am in the Leesburg, Florida area. It is difficult for me to explain myself about an exciting thing like viewing other areas TWC Local Forecasts to my parents.

The only people interested in something like this would be weather enthusiasts like us. The only friends I have are here at Storm2K. I don't live near anyone my (our) age and even if I did I don't believe I would communicate with them.

I hope bumping up posts isn't a problem. If we want something back up to the top for awhile, why not use it?

I tried to place them in geographical order i just had lose tapes that were not placed onto my main collection tape yet so you gotta understand that part. Shoot i forgot to include Matt's tape on there also LOL so i'll have about a few more areas. I worked from the New England Area around as you can kinda tell.

I'd love people to send theirs to me. Great idea, Lee. :D

Perhaps at some point I will tape some (I don't know how many minutes worth of) TWC Local Forecasts. As I mentioned, it isn't something that I can easily do and send out. My situation isn't like most 26 year olders.
