I CANNOT believe they ousted Sundance. I am not watching this anymore. This is not a singing competition by no means!

AS I have said before, the problem is all the "kiddies" are voting for the "pretty boy" and as in some years past obviously some have built up a voting base that don't deserve to be there. Tha show will start to lose credibility imo if they do not revamp how the voting is handled after this year.

You can add me to that group mama. Half of tonights results were [marq=down]JUST FLAT WRONG!!!!!![/marq]

I would argue that among those who take music seriously, the credibility is long gone. Among the general public, it's more about entertainment than any credibility.

I think that after the majority of the winners have been failures, compared to how many records they SHOULD sell, there's no doubting it is a popularity contest, not a singing competition. Once you resign yourself to the idea that it's only a popularity contest, voting for someone because they look great naked is just as good a reason as any.

Sometimes, as a side effect, it will produce good singers. Will it pick the best singer in America? Rarely. Is it still entertaining anyway? Sure.

I was VERY upset to see Sundance to go. He was one of, if not the best guy, IMO. I hope he can go on to make something of himself in the music industry. I'd buy a CD from him. Jared... blah... I didn't care one way or the other but Sanjayah SHOULD NOT be there. I don't even know anyone who voted for him. I mentioned before that my little niece voted for him either last week or the week before... even she came to her senses and realized that he stinks.

I was very happy for Haley. I already posted that I thought she was good enough to make the top 12 on the previous page, but I also think Sabrina should have made it. I think it should have been Antonella and Stephanie who left. I'm thrilled for Haley, but upset for Sabrina and Sundance.

Yep, Frick - start scraping!

America finally got it right with Antonella, but I can't believe they kept Sanjaya in, while SUNDANCE got cut. grrr

I'm stunned that Sanjaya is still in. He clearly doesn't deserve to be here. In Singapore Idol we had a guy worse than him who made it to the top 6 before Singapore finally voted him out. Jeez, I hope Sanjaya doesn't make it that far.

Can you imagine if Sanjaya wins the entire competetion?

But, let's look at this from a different perspective, for a moment..shall we?
It's not Sanjaya's fault that he is still in the show.... in fact..he just did what he was supposed to do... he sang the best he could (clearly not good enough but thats what he did), he charmed his fans, and he sat back like everyone else and waited for the results show... and he made it through.

So nothing wrong with that. If the majority of the voting populace decided he was good enough to be in... well so be it.
But with the audience aghast, even the judges (rightly so) even Paula said well no disprespect to him, but he didnt deserve to be there. But the fact is..he made it. So it surely puts him in a precarious position... clearly, his facial expression suggested he also thought he should have been gone... so his confidence is lacking, everyone keeps saying he should not be there, he's not good enough, the judges tell it to his face.... so all this weighs on his shoulders each week..it's will be hard for him to keep coming out and giving it his best when he knows everyone thinks he shouldn't be there.

bottom line is..i'd hate to be in his position now.

I have to say that I am not too happy as well with the ones picked for the tope 12... This show is really going to start to suck real soon when people like Sanjaya stay and Sundance get booted... Its really turning into a competition about looks rather than talent... Like Simon said, Did anyone have the volume turned up? and as for the girls, I was shocked when Halie stayed and Stephaine went... Add me to the list as well for the floor scraping...

My opinion is they should make it 1 vote per household and it would be more fair

I agree hurricaneman, one vote per household would eliminate the problem from the people who vote 20+ times for their favorite. It's obvious the young people don't have much idea what true singing talent is like, otherwise, Britney would have never made it as far into her career as she did.

I'm not sure one vote per household is possible. How do you regulate it? I have two phones: the landline and the cell. I could get hold of another cell for three votes. I'm sure I can use Skype to call in: that's 4 votes. How do they know how many times I've voted?

At least stop the computer re-dial programs like DialIdol.

As for the show, I've stopped getting emotionally invested in the outcome after the 3rd season. I've gotten cynical about the selection process for the Top 24 (I mean, you can't tell me these were best singers out of all the auditions) and blatent manipulation by the TPTB of the voting process during the show (they are being really nice in their critiicism of Anotella and Sanjaya, so not invoke sympathy voting)

DWTS has an internet voting option which I like. You can only vote up to 5 times and after that it won't let you. Maybe they could consider internet voting only. Almost everyone has a computer nowadays so i don't think to many people wouldn't be able to vote.

It's just as easy to multiple-vote via internet as it is by phone. Easier, in many ways.

They would NEVER limit it to one vote.. Specially when texting.. Any idea how much they and the phone companys make with all the texting fools out there? :-)

the only real solution to this way of voting then is to take it out of the hands of the viewers...and have additional judges during the Final 24 stage and have the judges decide on who should stay or who should go.

For really..they know best.

If any of u plan on seeing the Idols when they're on their 2007 summer tour.. {I plan on it cuz the 2006 Idols put on a great show}.. just remember.. If Sanjayah survives 2 more eliminations.. HE WILL BE ON THE TOP 10 TOUR WITH THE GROUP!

I'd rather see Haley during the tour than Sanjayah.. I also hope Gina wins.. but what do I know lol
