Update: We are finally getting afternoon highs above freezing, but we're still looking at morning lows well below freezing for the foreseeable future. I believe we're still on target for a last freeze in last-April to early-May.

Update: Last freeze for Tulsa was today Feb 21 with a low of 32F.

(Granted, the high was 71F, but a freeze is a freeze)

Well, according to our local NWS, these are the normal dates for the metro area. However, this is compiled at the airport, which is in a river valley and is typically the coolest spot in the metro area. Sortof a micro-cimate there. Typically about 2-6° cooler there than most other areas in the metro.

@ the airport:
Average first freeze.....October 21 / Average last freeze.....April 17
Average first frost.....October 13 / Average last frost.....April 30

However, here at my house, the average last freeze/frost is much earlier
and the average first freeze/frost is much later than what you see above and I think the same could be said for most of the metro area.

Its funny they have our average last frost at April 30, because by then ALL of our trees are FULL of leaves- always. However, I remember back in 2002, we had an unusual very late freeze. It dropped down into the lower 30s toward the end of May that year- which shattered old record lows. That was the same month we had the major hail storm (May 2, 2002).

Update (as promised): It's still winter and we still are getting freezes. Our last freeze was yesterday (28°F). We're in a warm streak now, with highs in the 70s and lows in the 30-40s. Our next freeze is expected around Friday morning.

Stand by for updates...

Hmmm, our last is usually in mid-June or there abouts.

I could post the first night that doesn't freeze. :?: October 9 was our last night when it did not freeze. Every night since then has dropped to below freezing.

Update Again: Last freeze for Tulsa was today April 7 with a low of 29F

This is approx 9 days later than the climatological average. And we'll likely freeze tomorrow morning also.

Too dang cold for this late in the year.

30.7 this morning, my first freeze since 3/18. Will be even colder tonight, looks like Mid 20's. All-time records for April are going to be shattered.

I left the cacti I brought from PHX out on the front porch last night. Hope they're okay...

The last freeze here was on March 11. There's a chance we could get one this week, but if we don't get another this year, it would tie for the earliest last freeze on record, with 1992. :grr:
