The 2007 Tampa Bay Lightning Bolt Run

#1 Postby MusicCityMan » Thu Mar 15, 2007 9:12 am

I just wanted 2 let you guys know that on March 31st, very early {7 am}.. I will be running in about a 1/4 marathon for charity.

The "Bolt Run" sponsored by the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning is a 3 part event that has a 5 mile run, 5k run and a 1 mile walk..

I'll be participating in the 5 mile..

As being a participant, I get a shirt, a goodie bag full of stuff, access to pre and post race festivities, and a free ticket to the 3/31 Tampa Bay NHL game..

This is going to be kinda cool since I've never really done a "marathon" on a city street..

http://www.tampabaylightning.com and then click on the link for the Bolt Run if u want more info.

way to go! That will be a fun thing to do! Plus the free ticket to the Bolts game that night will be awesome too!
The Maple Leafs just played a game with the Bolts 2 nights ago (and we won 3-2) woooo, but I always liked the Lightning.
I've met Vinnie LeCavalier already (ive got a signed photo of him).

Enjoy the marathon on the 31st!

I must be pretty fit to run.. I did a little "training run" yesterday.. {much shorter than 5 miles, about 1 lol}.. I hope I'll be able to finish..

Thats all they have been telling me at work.. "We don't care if it takes u all day to run the 5 miles lol.. just as long as u finish"..

if u can't run it totally, just walk it~!
walking is more fun, plus less draining and more scenic too :P

If there is any advice I can give you, it's this. DO NOT OVERDO IT! In other words, you can slow down every now and then. 2 years ago I did 6 miles for the Spina Bifida Association of Cincinnati, Ohio. I finished 6 miles in about 2 hours, not running a constant pace....so if I can do it, so can you.

That's a very honorable thing to do. I have been thinking on also doing some running for charity in the future when I may have more time to train and to participate.
