Yep, he sure is! I hate to even bring this up but the activists said that since his Mother would not nurse him that he should have been killed. The zookeepers would not go for that and are raising him without the Mother.

It was a looney fringe group that wanted the bear killed, and everyone else said "no way".

Their argument to kill Knut was that he would never become a real polar bear when raised by humans. As if a polar bear will ever become a 'real' polar bear if he spends the rest of his life in a zoo.

Well I liked the way you put that. I could not come up with anything that nice. lol.

Bobbie Lee, I apologize for mentioning that but I was really upset when I saw it on the news.

He is definitely a cutie pie.

I would be curious if any of these looney tunes has ever had any disease or condition that would have killed them in a state of nature (a state in which most people die very young ).

I bet they received compassionate care as children which allowed them to survive. God forbid they return the favor to another living being.

Regit - great points! Same with you Yarrah!

I personally think that the human race should be the "caretaker" of the earth and of all creatures that live on it.

Knut is so CUTE!!! He's being raised in a zoo....so what. He's still a freakin POLAR BEAR... check his genes. I don't give money to wildlife charities for nothing.

Polar bears are an endangered specie and they must be protected.

Aww, how sweet. The polar bears we see all the time at Sea World, Klondike and Snow were also hand raised by hand after being abandoned at birth.
They are just fine and are a blast to watch in person play and hunt for fish through the under water viewing they have.
Hurray for Knut!

Klondike and Snow were originally at the Denver Zoo as cubs. I never saw them, but I do have a t-shirt with their pictures. :D

As people have noted the cub is being raised in a zoo! These nuts that say kill him because of human intervention keeping him alive, are too late in my mind. The time to complain about human intervention in animal affairs was back when his parents were first placed in zoos. Sure he's dependant upon humans, but so were his parents, and so are ALL ANIMALS IN ZOOS. After all some one has to feed 'em all. This is just silly!
