My first motor home
In February 2006, the towing company I work for towed a recovered/stolen motor home. I have been on the phone with the original owner out of Utah and also the man at the RV Sales business where we towed it from. Neither one of them wanted the motor home. The original owner faxed me all the paperwork that he did own it and also included the police report where it was entered into the NCIC (national crime info center) as stolen. I called the detective in Utah and she did not even know it had been recovered. So, she removed it from NCIC. The motor home has been sitting there, until now. I purchased it from my boss for $2,000.00.
Anyway, it is a 1997 40 foot Itasca Suncruiser. Click on the link and it will show you exactly what this is complete with pics. When I get the time I will take some and post them.

I think so too.

The inside does not look as good as the pics in the link, though. The man at the RV place was stripping it and was going to redecorate it the way he wanted it. He REALLY has bad taste.

David, I will not be able to go far in that thing. lol. It has a 70 gallon tank on it.

I think so too.The towing company does not have anything in it, except for the towing and storage. My boss wanted 5,000 for it, but since it was me, he let me have it for that. He knows I will not fix it then sell it for profit. I did all the paperwork on it and was able to get all the applications for title. I had a friend of mine with the Moss Point police dept run the VIN number through NCIC to make sure that it is not still coming up as stolen. I do not want to take it to the Alabama tag and title office only for it to come up stolen, which in turn they would have the county pick it up yet again as recovered/stolen, then we would lose it because another towing company would have it. That is exactly how we ended up with it. The only thing that really puzzled me was why the original owner in Utah would not give me the name of his insurance company so I could retrieve the actual title. The man at the RV business here in Theodore said it was "abandoned" on his property. He tried to get the paperwork (like I did) but when he tried to title it it came up as stolen. He was not too smart because who would abandon a 40 foot motor home? I would have had it run nationally instead of just through the state of Alabama and then went from there. He would have had the motor home free and clear because the original owner did not want it.
I still believe there was some shady deals going on between those two. Why would someone NOT WANT it??

He REALLY has bad taste.I MIGHT have to spend about 3500.00 to restore the inside to mint condition. In the end I will have a motor home worth way more than what I paid for it. It only has 30,000 miles on it too.

Come on Linda, that's ONLY $195.30 to fill it at the current price of $2.79 a GALLON

Come on Linda, that's ONLY $195.30 to fill it at the current price of $2.79 a GALLONNow, let's see, a Ford 490 CI engine, that should get, going down hill, with a 60 MPH tailwind, in neutral, EMPTY....maybe, approx. 6-8 miles per gallon (or is that 6-8 GALLONS per MILE)?
Oh is that all??? LOL! Dang, I could have called you to run it NCIC **sigh** Anyway, a friend of mine who is an Alabama State Trooper ran the VIN and it is clear "no record found" Moss Point is having trouble with their system. I also found out through this same Trooper that he knows a man who can get it titled in Mississippi. WOO HOO!! I am getting closer!
What are your thoughts on the shady dealings Dennis?
LOL Garrett!! I am sooo excited and can't wait to get it here to start working on it.

Sweet! You could go on a S2K Meet & Greet Tour Linda......pick up sunny while you're at it! What a fun trip that would be. We'll map it out for you....he he
Seriously, enjoy your new motor home. I've heard it's a completely different and unique way to travel. And you get to meet so many interesting people along the way.
Reminds me of that Robin Williams movie from last year - RV! Maybe you should rent it, so you don't make the same mistakes....LOL!

It is huge. We just got home with it. I forgot this is the end of the month and the police are out in force trying to meet their quota. Anyway, when we got into MS, a deputy sheriff came up beside me and slammed on brakes. He just THOUGHT he was going to get in behind the motor home. lol. I sped up and got right on the motor homes bumper then turned on my flashers. He went on. We would have been on the side of the road for a while had he pulled it. whew!!
I have seen that movie, Mary. lol. We will be using it mainly to go to Nascar races and going to KOA camps in Florida.

My daughter thinks the shady dealings might have been drugs or something like that. Maybe yopu should have a drug dog sniff it over to make sure it doesn't have a residual drug scent.
Mobile County deputies took control of it the first time when it was reported through NCIC as stolen. The original owner would not give me the name of the insurance company so I could either get them to pay for the tow and storage or have them release the title to us. Well, he did not want to do that. What I and some deputies believe is this was an insurance scam. The second RV salesman that had it said it was abandoned at his house. I mean, come on. lol. A 40 foot motor home just abandoned? He then tried to slyly get it titled in Alabama. If the thing was not registered in Alabama then it had to be registered somewhere, right? I mean, SOMEONE would be missing their motor home. He did not call the police when it was "abandoned"

I think the first guy scammed the insurance company and had it stolen and the second guy was just an all around crook. It backfired on the first owner when I found out info on him and went from there. The second guy wanted no part of me. lol. Legally it has been on the towing companies property for more than a year. I have documentation and logged each call to the owner until he stopped returning mine.

You know, I thought it looked real familiar. I think I LOST it back in 2000. I am getting older and you know how my memory is fading. Well, one minute it was in my driveway and the next it was gone. Oh, I forgot to report it, but, yes siree, it's mine. LOL
By the way, if you're driving to Virginia to see George you might as well drive up here to the Burgh and put that 40' wonder back in my driveway!!!!!
