Iran seizes U.K. troops=The 15 sailors are back home

I had really hoped this situation would be resolved quickly like the 2004 incident.
The AP news version of this story at least had a little positive news.
"An Iranian news agency reported earlier in the day that Iran's Foreign Ministry sent a message to the British embassy in Tehran calling for a guarantee by London to avoid violating Iranian territorial waters in the future.
Until now, Iran has said the matter could only be resolved if Britain admitted its sailors were trespassing."

The Iranians have not drawn their disputed borders so such a guarantee would only be face saving at this time.
I still think a quick diplomatic solution such as this would be better than watching a mock trial for the sailors in Iran. The UN can't act decisively until Russia votes with the majority.

A third "letter" has been released now. You wouldn't have thought it could have been any more unsubtle than the last one, but there we go.

While we may not buy oil directly from Iran, shutting off their exports would put a crimp in the world supply, driving prices up for everyone and creating worldwide shortages. Oil is a pure commodity. It doesn't matter where you get it from, the price and demand is global.

Regan did in in 1988 and Bush can do it again if need be
And meanwhile, our economy will tank in the few weeks it takes to find and disarm the thousands of mines they lay in the strait. Great idea.
A confrontation with Iran is going to happen sooner than later anyways ...Lets just get it over with...I'm fixing to buy a gallon of gas and torch my 2 cars anyways..I'll buy a couple of real nice electric scooters with the insurance money...
The point is right now its just a war of words and oil is skyrocketing..
I wake up everyday and say the world is ending...Maybe its tomorrow....

Maybe so, but how do you think those people view us? Britain did not do anything to stop them from taking those soldiers. They KNOW we have gone soft.
