Everyone get out of Walmart... now

#1 Postby southerngale » Sat Mar 31, 2007 1:47 am

My dad had been shopping at Walmart Supercenter in Beaumont today (well, Friday) for about an hour when employees came by saying to get out of the store now. He asked why, but all they said was that everyone had to get out now. Leave your carts, whether you've paid or not...just get out. Everyone was rushed out of the store. When he got home, my mom checked the local channels trying to find out what it was. I wasn't home but eventually called KFDM earlier this evening and found out it was a bomb threat. Of course my first instinct was thank God there wasn't an actual bomb, but just a threat, and my dad was ok, but the whole thing was still kinda creepy. I can't imagine being shopping and something like that happens. Especially if you have kids... you can't get out fast enough.

There have been a couple of cases in Tucson where low intensity devices were actually found in stores of course our big problem is the shootouts between rival human smuggling gangs like the one that left two people dead in the retirement community of Green Valley 30 miles south of Tucson-second such incident in a week.

It was probably a good thing that they didn't say what the problem was - it would've created an overall panic.

I'm glad that it ended up being nothing, but just the same, I'd be unnerved if one of my family members were 'that close" to a potential bomb.!

Glad that nothing worse happened. It may not look suspicious, but better safe than sorry.

It happened at my Wal-Mart before.......

One day a TLE associate wasn't happy with his schedule so he called in a bomb threat to the store. At that time I was in the fire department and it wasw my day off from Wal-Mart so me and the other firefighters were on standby by the station. I asked why we are at the station. They said that when (and a big if) the store blew up we would go in. After a few hours the all-clear was given.....and the dude tried to call in another bomb threat....This time he was caught!!!!

Imagine that!!!!

It happens ALL and I do mean ALL of the time, at LEAST once a week, up here at our SuperCenter...can we all say "Disgruntled employee?"

I was in there one time when it happened, I was off duty but one Show Low officer saw me and asked for my assistance in the evac.....one of these days it's going to be for real, say like a pipe bomb in the hardware section!

I don't know of any other time it's ever happened here. I suppose it could have and I just didn't hear about it, but I usually hear about stuff like that.

Of course the bomb threat wasn't real, but my dad was more irritated that he wasted an hour shopping and went home empty-handed and we were all like, "Oh thank God it was just a prank and you're ok!" lol.... men.

Whoever did this needs to be caught (if they have I missed it) because this is some serious stuff here.
