Ever quit smoking?
Moderator: S2k Moderators
AAARGH. I stayed home from work today to get some things accomplished. The kids were clamoring for this and that, and I'll do it, as soon as I can. I'm not speedy gonzales, especially on a day off. I REALLY could have used a cigarette. I bought a pack for my mother in law. They are right there on the table. Just one little cigarette. It won't hurt anything. Must resist. Walk away. Ready to strangle someone. Chomped down about 4 lollypops. My teeth hurt. Came here to unload. Typing fast. Hands hurt. Deep breath. OK, I'm back under control. Feel better. Thanks.

LOL Ed, I know about the teeth hurting. Those little coffee stirrer are mighty tasty but after about 1/2 hour of clenching them in my teeth - Boy, my teeth hurt and my jaws ache!!!!!
You're doin a great job. I have to admit, my typing seems alot faster than it did on Sunday!!!!
Hang in there buddy!!!

This isn't just any 'ol message board. It is Storm2K, not just tropical weather discussions and general weather discussions, but so much more as the caption reads!!

Thanks, Az and Marshall.
It was the convergence of several factors for me:
-An upcoming physical
-the cost of me smoking
-the cost of me buying more cigarettes for
others than they were buying for me (LOL)
-the desire to get to the next level in my cycling,
-and last but not least, the desire to do something
good for my kids and show them that I'm not
just all talk. My kids had me over a barrel on this. When I'd go out and buy cigarettes, they'd say "well what about us" The contended that I should get something for them when I buy cigarettes for myself. I could have said "get lost - you'll understand when your an adult." But I guess I bought their logic, and started getting them candy to be fair. Quitting eliminated this issue.
Good Morning, Karan.
Yes still hanging in there! Maybe it's starting to get better.
I'm proud of you Karan, you are helping me go on.
I am eager to hear how Bron is doing.
Joshua, how are you doing with the sodas?
I know there was someone else too.
Quick reply doesn't let me look too far back. Sorry.

Ed .... children are extremely obserative... They see their parents doing it, then they think its ok. Glad you are trying to eliminate that issue
I don't smoke (and I don't foresee myself lighting up...its a horrible habit) and when I drive by gas stations around the area, they always advertise cartons of smokes...prices are around $33 for ONE carton. That's the lowest! Either way, money burns a hole in your pocket, and nicotene cravings skyrocket!
My best friend quit, which we are so glad she did...we are working on the rest of her family.
You guys are doing an awesome job with quiting and/or dieting. Keep it up.

HELLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Well guys, sounds like you are all doing a fantastic job..!!!
Way to GO Karan and ED.. you make me proud
Well I've been hanging in there as well. Time has flown for me, moving boxes etc and unpacking has helped... I do however seem to have a load more spare time
those moments I used to steal to go and smoke have all accumulated into spare time now... so I have to keep my mind and hands busy, which really does help to supress the cravings.
My new addiction is wintogreen lifesavers! lol.. my jaw and teeth hurt too! Oh well guess I needed a trip to the dentist anyway..
Let me know how you guys are doing!
IM VERY PROUD OF YOU BOTH

Well Bron, you make us pretty proud too. I can't believe that with all that you had to do today that you've done sooooooo good!!!! GREAT JOB It's so good to hear from you.
Ed is the leader. Man, I don't think I could have made it without his inspiration. (I know, I know, it's gettin deep in here, but I'm serious)
Yes, the aching teeth syndrome. Oh My
Take care

I'm so proud of all of you!! It sounds corny, I know, but I really am. It is so hard to quit smoking and you all are doing such a terrific job!!
The dieting too...that is just as hard and you have to be dedicated to be successful and realize that it won't (nor do you want it to) come off overnight. For true success, it should be gradual. I've had 3 kids....I've gone on a "diet" after each of them.
As for sodas...I drink way too many, but I only drink diet, so no sugar and no calories. I gotta have my caffeine though!!

Promise me too, OK? If you don't smoke I won't have a soda tomorrow at Subway. Deal?
BTW speaking of sodas ... I had one today.
I just couldn't handle it any longer.
It tasted good though. Now I need to not have one all weekend (which will be real hard seeing as how I am meeting someone tomorrow morning at 11 at Subway).

Josh, having a soda (even a small one) when you go out shouldn't be a problem. Just don't drink alone! LOL, that's advice for an alcoholic, not a soda junkie.
Bronnie, it's good to hear from you. Glad the move was sucessful, and it sounds like you are succeeding fabulously. Same for you Karan. You gals are great.
My wife dragged, er, invited me to an old fashioned tent revival at our daughter's church tonight and we just got back. Sheesh, pretty soon I'll be all reformed! Guess that's the way to be though.
