Woman Charged With Breast-Feeding While Driving
Trucker Calls Police
Police charged an Ohio mother because she was breast-feeding while driving.

Catherine Donkers, 29, was charged with child endangerment for breast-feeding her 7-month-old daughter while driving on the Ohio Turnpike.

A passing trucker saw Donkers nursing her child at the wheel, thought it was dangerous and called the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Donkers insisted that she did nothing wrong, and said she didn't feel that she was putting her child in any excess danger.

"I think there's lots of things that we do where we put ourselves at risk, just by the very fact that I'm in a car and there's lots of car accidents every single day," Donkers said. "I think it would be reasonable to say that even that's a danger."

Donkers said her daughter rides in a car seat at all times when she is not nursing.

Sometimes you just have to put the wants and desires of your passenger(s) aside until you can safely attend to them.

I'm not a mom, but I think it would have been better to pull over for a while.

Well, if not charged with endangerment, atleast charged(or fined) for indecent exposure, IMO.

Child endangerment is everyone's business IMO. This happened on a public road, even a minor fender bender could have resulted in the child being crushed between the mother and the steering wheel. Some people like this lady should use the brain God gave them. As far as the indecent exposure, as far as I'm concerned I have no problem with a mother nursing in public if she's comfortable with it. It's one of the most natural things in the world.

That is how many children die!!!! People "minding their own business"!!!! The child that is bruised, withdrawn, afraid of human touch. " I don't want to get involved" "Somebody else will call" "It's none of my business"

Well, my friend, that is all a bunch of bull! Children die EVERY SINGLE DAY simply because of people with the mindset of "minding my own business" These children ARE our business!! They represent our future!

I agree Chad. Just pull over if you must breastfeed right then. I'm a mom and I would never breastfeed my babies while driving. That's just insane!!

My babies are always buckled up.;)

rainstorm....there are times when we shouldn't mind our own business, like when an innocent child is in danger.

I too agree with everyone else here. She should of at least pulled over on the side of a road; if she was on a highway, get off at the nearest parking lot.

As for indecent exposure, we don't know how much she was actually exposing.

While sorely tempted to reply with great wit, I don't want to milk this too much.

This is a serious thread.

That woman should be charged with endangerment! As for indecent exposure??? Come now its a natural thing..My wife has breast fed all of our little ones and its second nature for me..If a mother wants to flop out her boob in public so that her child can eat I have no qualms with it. Breast feeding has been PROVEN to help a babies immune system strengthen. It also provides the baby will ALL of the nutrients that are needed for a growing baby.

I agree with her pulling off the road and then feeding her child. As stated before it would take very little for the mother to loose control of the baby if she was involved in an accident or even had to manuver the vehicle quickly to avoid an accident.

I would personally think that is kinda child endangerment what if she had to slam on the break huh? Ya know that the baby could of fallin down and gotten hurt or slammed in between the mother and the stearing wheel. And also if the child has teeth the child could of bit the nipple of the mother and also causing the mother pain which in turn could of caused and accident. These are in my opinion's not to offend anyone

Hey Vance, I'm replying to your reply. Of course this is a serious topic. A little humor never hurts anything. Of course it's hard to stay real serious when reading about mothers "flopping their boob out in public."

I'm not trying to start anything, just wanted to "expose" the humor in your post.
